Farside Sportsbiking, the European Trackday club that I'm am a member of, will be celebrating their 20th Anniversary in 2018 and the organiser is planning something special; 3 days on track at either Philip Island or Kyalami Costs for either option haven't been thrashed yet, but he's talking about £3,000 ea; including flights (group booking), 3 days open pit lane on track with a maximum of 45 bikes, bike transport, 8 nights in a hotel close to the circuit for the PI option due to the time difference/jet lag or 4 nights for the Kyalami option, hire cars etc. Has anyone done the equivalent of either trip before? Is this viable given the estimated costs or is it a pipe dream?

If you can get to PI and do all that inc the bike transport /accom for 3k - thats a bargain in my view. You'll probably loose all your friends off the back of it as you wont stop talking about it for years after

Agree with Spuu, flights, bike transport, 8 days accommodation and 3 days on track at PI sounds amazing value for money for 3K!

Bored at work today. So lets say in a parallel universe a Banzi member won the lottery and took the whole board out to PI for this deal, all expenses paid. How do we think everyone would place in terms of speed? From the extremely limited knowledge you get from forum chat alone, here are my predictions (in descending order) Aliens
neilf paulg matt989 rusty no66 Mid packclipper nippon droog mekon philthewindsurfer pantah norbs streetwisehercules beefus mysterio niceguyeddie roobarb vazy Bringing up the rear gary (just too nice to be fast) elnoodle (spuu think elnoodle spend too much time talking setup in broken english and not enough time on race track making good lap time) masonmart (too wheels in line to be any good / afraid to bin a mint rc45) hoppur (no comment necessary) ps - I've already offended a few people at work this week so why not carry that on here I dont even know if everyone here even rides 2 wheels...

Currently, I'd stick myself in the lower half of the mid-pack at best; post-lottery win and a year's worth of Motovudu tuition would hopefully see me more towards the pointy end of mid-pack.

What a dream trip that would be. I'll maybe have to start actually doing the lottery.
As an ex racer, albeit now a 58 year old, i'd like to think i still had it in the tank to challenge at the front. The mentality never changes, the body unfortunately does. I'm still the same weight, and still fit in the old leathers but fucking hell, the bones creak.

I was always pretty fast when riding a bike paid for by others.
When it comes to riding my own bike I'm decidedly more "bringing up the rear"...
Ability to go fast doesn't change, ability to pay for repairs however does.....

Thanks for the overly optimistic placing spuu but everyone would be better off if I was riding shotgun in the ambulance, nursing an esky full of VB and ether.
