I can't be arsed selling my TT but the crushing fuel economy is doing my head in (25mpg). Been thinking about getting a scooter of Gumtree or something for £400, just for work and whatever as I've read they can get 100mpg.
Anyone commute on one of these? Just not sure if I can get back onto something with a small engine and then not be wishing I'd bought a proper motorbike. Obviously parenthood is stopping me buying something decent as although the insurance is fuck all, I'm still prone to stupidity and getting a decent sports bike is probably not the best idea.

It depends on how far you have to commute and what type of roads you travel on. If you're within a town with predominantly 30mph limits, then getting a bigger engine in a scooter probably won't make much difference; you'd still beat traffic off the line at the front of a queue in most situations and a sports bike won't get you there any quicker. If, for example, you were doing the equivalent of my daily commute (Gloucester to Cheltenham; A40 dual carriageway and national speed limit), then a 125 or a 250 scooter would be a better choice if that's affordable.

Gotta agree with neilf here. My cycle commute is a little shorter than the dual carriageway route by car but is still an A road and a little uncomfortable. The mod in me wants a cool little scooter but the modernist in me says get an e-moped which I understand costs £5 to charge per 1,000 miles. Whatever I may get it'll guarantee rain forever.

When I lived in Bangkok I had a Yamaha Fino. Brilliant for getting through hideous traffic and dirt cheap. Absolutely zero street cred and not much fun, but what do you expect!!

Only a 5 mile commute, so not a problem when the weather gets better as I will cycle when possible but at the moment I really cannot be arsed with it. It's all these stupid small journeys I'm doing that are probably doing the mpg in with the TT. It never really even gets warmed up.
Then again it's boring as fuck to drive, it's a mixture of too competent up to the limit and the odd nature of 2wd/4wd switching which means you have to put the boot in all the time to get the 4wd kicking in. Odd thing that understeers intitially, if you lift off it'll keep understeering, if you put the boot in more the rears kick in the straighten you out and push forward. It's pretty idiot proof but boring. Wish I'd never bought it.

I got rid of my PCX 125 about 6 months ago. Brought it new in 2014. It was a 2015 model. Absolutely excellent scooter and loved using it. Cheap to run but I got rid of it as my commute was dangerous as fuck. A13 and M25. Nearly died almost every day. My commute was 32 miles to work and back. I would definitely have another one if my commute wasn't on such dangerous roads. The PCX was like sitting in an armchair compared to any motorcycle I have ever owned. I seriously considered getting the NSS300 FORZA and I may do so at some point when I'm not poor. Keeping my son in iPhones and consoles is a dear hobby. He now wants a gaming PC. Keeps asking to use mine but if he so much as touches my Gaming super rig that I built last year and have only used to browse the net and played Doom for ten minutes on, I will disown him.

Love to get a decent VR rig. I was mad for the PSVR for about 2 weeks then I looked into the future and games looked thin on the ground so I cut and run whilst you could get stupid money for them. At least the PC VR rigs have a lot of modded software that's been VR'd. Some of the driving games look awesome in VR. This said, it made me sick as fuck, that's another reason I got rid. Horror games literally scared the shit out of you, I couldn't take more than 15 mins at time on it, would probably die of heart failure on a real scary game. The difference in immersion to a normal screen is massive.
What's riding etiquette on a scooter anyway if you're doing 30 in a 60? Don't really see the point of riding it like a bike or cunts will just squeeze you and do stupid overtakes?

If your going to be doing 30 in a 60 zone then I wouldn't bother with a scooter, drivers will risk your life, give you no room and and cut you up to save themselves a few seconds. I changed from a 50cc to a YBR 125 and could comfortably keep up with traffic and felt much safer in a commute. The 125 was actually better on fuel I was easily getting 100+mpg. Got rid of it last year through as the old knees couldn't cope with the cold mornings.
