I was in the UK last weekend and went to Silverstone to do the "Single seater experience". Wasn't sure what to expect apart from the fact that we wouldn't be driving around "Silverstone" but the much smaller Stowe test circuit. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed it, the cars are pretty quick but very agricultural...4 speed gearbox but you only need to use 3rd and 4th which is tricky as the tiny gearstick is slightly blocked by the frame in the cockpit, so getting into 4th can be a bit of a pain. You get a 10 minutes warm-up behind a safety car then 20mins in the group to go as fast as you can. Amazing grip and we all got faster lap by lap. Good fun!...I'd like to do it again but maybe in a car with paddle shift!

I imagine the entry and exit of the old pit straight was fun.

Was it a buzz? Always sort of wanted go give it a go but half expected your own bike on track would be more fun?

Was it a buzz? Always sort of wanted go give it a go but half expected your own bike on track would be more fun? Yeah, it was a buzz...until you get passed and then try and keep up with the dude who just passed you ...then you realise how much quicker the car can go with a better driver! Grip/cornering is amazing and my lap times came down nearly every lap so I was improving, we all were. It's the same as riding a bike around a track in that you get to know what the bike can do, but it's usually more that your own talent is able to push it to do!

Sounds good fun. Off on a tangent I'd quite like to go in a glider (place at Sutton Bank not too far from me) and maybe do a tandem parachute jump.

Sounds good fun. Off on a tangent I'd quite like to go in a glider (place at Sutton Bank not too far from me) and maybe do a tandem parachute jump. I did a static line parachute jump in the 90's, it was good fun and you are totally in control of "flying" the chute from 3000ft. I'd always wanted to do a proper skydive so did one in Oz in 2008, a tandem jump from 12000ft which was incredible. Don't think I'd have the balls to do one now though, age has a way of doing that!!

I don't have a head for heights as such but I still want to experience it just once. I did a bungee in New Zealand and that was a very weird experience. Goes against your survival instinct to thrown yourself off a platform. Too me a lot to force myself off it.

i've Been to Alvor in the Alarve a few times and seen the skydivers coming down swinging the chutes about and thought yeah thats cool i'd like to try that, but in May this year i actually took the time to watch the plane get the height then saw the guys jump out and followed their fall until they pulled that cord, i thought fuck that no way.... i'd be shitting myself until that chute opened, i cant call that enjoyment.

One of my leaving gifts from my old job was one of those supercar experience things at Ingleston circuit. It lists pretty much every supercar you can think of and I just can't decide which one to pick.
I'm guessing they must hire them in because there's no way they've got all those cars sitting around and some you have to pay a bit extra for. Will probably go for the Porsche GT3 or something. Drove a mate's Ferrari years ago and didn't enjoy it so they can fuck off.

Is there an Aston? If so, pick that.

Is there an Aston? If so, pick that. Aye there are a couple of Vantages. Not sure they'd be better track cars than the Porsche? Also tempted by the McLaren. Better decide soon before the fucking voucher expires.

Doing this tomorrow, went for the Mercedes AMG GT. Can't help thinking I should have paid for an extra lap. It will likely be over in a flash.

Great day. The AMG GTR is incredibly fast. 4 wheel steering made cornering quite an experience. You have an instructor with you advising you about gearing, turn in, etc. Got 3 laps but paid for another 4. Still wasn't enough to really get into the groove but I could have happily spent all day in that car.
Got taken out in the Atom, told the guy to do his worst and holy fuck, what an experience. Easily the fastest thing I've ever sat in. Acceleration is comparable to a litre sportsbike but corner speed is something of an upgrade. Ended up doing 3 laps. A real thrill.
