It is with sadness that we have to announce that Anthony is currently hospitalised in palliative care and is in the final stages of his life following a short illness – please be aware that we will provide any available updates in due course.

A "like" doesn't really cover it Gobert has been battling substance abuse throughout his racing career and since retiring. A wasted talent. A human body can only take so much... unless you're Keith Richards!

Shame, a talent in some respects, not so much in others. Doesn't mean to say that he brought it on himself though.

That's proper shit. The worst part is the pure waste of talent. Sad stuff

Forty-fucking-eight years old.... Far, far too young. Mind you, I bet he packed more into his 48 years than we did collectively. Hopefully his care will save him from the worst of the symptoms.

Tragic, i'd forgotten how brave and talented he was, been watching some of his races and by god he could stick it to em.

Tragic, i'd forgotten how brave and talented he was, been watching some of his races and by god he could stick it to em. He wasn't backwards in coming forwards. His time in 500GP on the Lucky Strike RGV was too short, but he was his own enemy in that respect. Still, it's a shame for his family and friends.

Yes, i was excited about him joining Suzuki and hoped he would carry on where Kevin had left off but taking on Doohan at that time was beyond everyone and he faded too quickly. But i'll not remember him for that period in his career, he was a shining star in the most competitive WSBK era ever.

Crikey, that was quick. Fingers crossed he was on the best pain relief.
