Over the past couple of years, quite a few of my colleagues have been poached by a global giant who should remain nameless, let's call them PB. My derision was the same for all of them.
'Grass isn't any greener once you're on the other side.'
'Aye it's a massive salary but you'll be expected to fucking earn it.'
Now the boot's on the other fucking foot and I'm staring at an offer featuring a salary I'd never have envisaged. And my advice to every other cunt means fuck all. Now, my current employer has countered with a very decent offer but it doesn't come close. Problem is, my current role is as secure as a job could be and I have a very cushy number. I might need to do some work if I accept PB's offer.
So what to fucking do? Stay in the cushy role with the very comfortable salary or take the black buck, sell my soul and live the high life?

I was in a similar position last year and stayed put. Have not regretted it.
Maybe there is no right and wrong answer?

What will your quality of life be like outside work if you have to do longer hours and work harder for the extra pesetas?….if you take the leap and it doesn’t work out could you get your old job back?…
Difficult one but if your financially sorted now and happy, is it worth the risk?

Pb.....Paul Bird....I knew it. You are in the chicken industry.
My job is shite but easy money, secure and I literally don't give it moments thought once I leave. I have never been career minded though so it all means nothing to me. Odd given I will fight to the death if you try and overtake me at the traffic lights.

My opinion is that you work to earn dough but you’ve got to enjoy what you do, there is no perfect job, but it’s not all about money. To be honest, the more you make the more you spend. Sounds like your boss wants you to stay and that’s an important consideration in your decision.

There are only three factors to any job:
1) Does it do your head in? 2) How much of your time do you dedicate to it? 3) How much do they pay you?
If your current job (with counter-offer) provides the answers; No, a reasonalble amount, a reasonable amount, that is the best you can hope for and my advice is to not upset the status quo.
The new company might pay you more, but there comes a point where money doesn't compensate that your head is fried at the end of every day, or that you have to dedicate more time than you are comfortable with.
I moved to a new job three years ago, and by Spanish standards they pay me well, but I spent Friday night stressed because I hadn't finished a report due on Monday, Saturday night I was the same, so I've spent nearly three hours of my Sunday afternoon working on it.
Honestly, it's not worth it. If I could go back to my old job, I would.

Been in the 'new' job 4 months now. More money, aye but a lot more responsibility too and it's quite challenging. Glad I made the move. I was too cosy in my last job and I need to be on my fucking toes here.
