Thinking about a van. I can use the van for stuff like sticking MTBs and motorcycles in.
I know nothing about vans. Obviously I don't want to spend more than £5k because I am tight. Can if be done?

Mate has a VW Transporter T5 with the seats out it converts to take one motorcycle, plenty space for bicycles too. It shifts too!

I want one too.
Fella at work spent less than £5K on one. It needed some work but he plans to convert it to a camper.

Unless he puts windows in it then it's still classed as a commercial vehicle with all the speed restrictions that comes with it. The number of cunts I see fucking about in vans without realising there are different speed limits is quite depressing.

What are these speed limits of which you speak? For vans? I'm guessing the minimum speed in a white van on motorway is 80mph?

Well this gets more confusing the more you look. Get this one, no they rust in whatever place, get that one, no the injectors go after 100k. It's like trying to choose a motorbike at the height of grey import mania when there's was loads of choice and you weren't sure what you really wanted.
If I had £15k to spend it wouldn't matter.
Looking at various forums some have suggested getting minicabs with removable seats. That would be quite useful as I could still transport kids about and old people too. The old people could do with a trip to Bempton cliffs to see the puffins but that's another story.

So? Speed limit for Ducati V4R - 60mph on single carriageway.
I don't really see much logic in a van doing 60 on dual carriageway. It's not 1956 and everyone has drum brakes made of potatoes and suspension from Nanna's bed springs. Electric cars will weigh more than a van the sizes they seem to be reaching now.

Can't see the point in the different speed limits, not that anyone pays attention to it. 100kmh (62mph) here in NL between 0600 - 1900hrs, and 120kmh between 1900 - 0600hrs. I'm not aware of any differences regarding vehicle type and if there are no fucker pays attention. Some of the worst drivers I've encountered are Dutch. I think they're taught to give no fucks regardless.

No cunt takes any notice but I do wonder how many van drivers even know that there's a different speed limit for commercial vehicles. The rules for 4x4s are even more complicated and I drive these regularly for work.
I also wonder if speed cameras are smart enough to tell the difference. ANPR should be able to detect if your vehicle is registered as commercial but fuck knows if the cameras use this technology.

I'd fucking love a van, but being realistic, buying a cheap van is a mugs game. Better off getting a trailer.

Most vehicles seem to be mugs game. My mate bought a recent Volvo as he is fairly flush and the thing is constantly fucking up and going into limp mode. It thinks the dpf needs cleaning but even Volvo have looked at it, said the dpf is fine and can't figure out the problem. I paid 2k for the Mini and it's still going 5 years later with only new injectors needed.
I guess potentially you are taking that gamble with a van. Tbh I found it quite relaxing towing a trailer as if removed me from the temptation to go as fast as everybody else on the motorway.

There's a 60mph limit for vans on dual carriageways; both of the van drivers for my last company got caught out on the A417.

I'm getting nearer the point of towbar and trailer. There are small vans you can squeeze a bike in but that doesn't seem like something I wank to potentially do on my own. No headroom being a problem as far as I'm concerned. I asked my sparkie mate about vans but he was no use as he just buys them new, runs into the ground and doesn't vat on them anyway. This is perhaps the only thing that sort of hits my budget the NV200

Both my Transit Customs are classed as cars so usual speed restrictions apply. Even the LWB Custom. Fuck knows how they got around that.
Tranny Custom all the way Mekon, but they're big money as every cunts after one now
