I know Phil thinks I'm a capitalist nazi for liking the oat latte at Costa but I do still try and do my shopping on the high street or real world if possible. It is however, getting increasing hard to find any thing to even buy in town due to closures and changes to the way things work.
As I was feeling a bit flush I thought I'd buy a PS5 and the PSVR2. Fuck it, I've been grinding away on overtime for months. Anyway you can't actually buy a PSVR2 in the shops....even the online shops. Sony are only selling it direct. Fuck you Sony I thought. I'll waste my money on a direct drive steering wheel for my PC......same thing. You can't buy what I was after in the shops, it's manufacturer direct only, you can only get their sub £300 wheels in the shops.
Is this the way we are heading? Manufacturers bypassing the shop? I know one of the bicycle manufacturers started doing it. What happens if you're shit at repairing stuff? Go the local bike shop that's now shut because it's got nothing to sell?
If I go into York there's literally 2 shops I will go into now - HMV and WH Smiths. Maybe CEX at a push. Everything else is gone. What a time to be alive. I really think we've gone past the peak of existence.
