You know, the Busa, zzr1100+, Blackbird type stuff?
I know modern sports have more power but just wonder if anyone has ridden these more tourer type things?

Blackbird, K1300S…..the Blackbird was what I moved to after realising that Sportsbikes were 1. Too uncomfortable and 2. Irrelevant for my needs. K13 came next, both great bikes although the BMW was more comfortable for me.

I've had a ZZr11 and a Blackbird. It depends what you want from a bike. If it's effortless knee down and almost vertical stoppies then these aren't the bikes. However, if you want litre grunt and relative comfort then go for it.
I would say though that my Blackbird's pegs were too high for a tourer and the linked brakes were shite. All stuff you can fix but you shouldn't really need to.
Always liked the idea of a 'Busa but why the fuck did they have to build them so fucking ugly?

The ZX12R seems a good package but maybe sporty enough to make you try and push your luck on it rather than going for fast touring?
The VFR1200 is ugly as fuck imo.

The VFR1200 has grown on me over time, the front end is still a bit like a pug face but the rest of it has aged well. Apparently the engine is a peach, as you’d expect from a V4 Honda, and you can pick them up now for around the £4 - 5k mark. Superb build quality too. Better looking than a Busa, but not in the hyperbike performance league. ZZR1100 was the first “hyperbike” I ever rode, think it was in the early 90’s, couldn’t believe the power….coming off a GPZ750 it’s not surprising!!! |

Pretty sure that the VFR12 is shaft drive too so no more fucking around with chains but aye, it absolutely screams "old man."
The ZX12 was always a looker and will undoubtedly be super rapid but will it have the build quality of the Honda? Unlikely.
