Well, picked the cunt up today and drove home from Edinburgh in rush hour traffic and pishing rain 🤷

To be fair, the odd time I did give it a bit, it absolutely fucking took off. Certainly won't be remapping it. At least, not until the warranty runs out...

So, I've had it for a couple of days now and initial impressions are very positive but I'm still not sure I've made the correct decision in buying it.

Firstly, it feels every inch a luxury car, as it should since it cost £72k when it was new. It's extremely solid and just feels very well put together. Despite only having 2 seats, it's physically quite large, at least as big as my old CLK and probably a bit wider. It looks the absolute bollocks though, perhaps not as flashy as a 911 or an F-type but that's just fine.

Inside it's absolutely loaded. Everything that you can adjust has an electric motor to do so. The "infotainment" system looks tremendous so far but it's not particularly intuitive to use so I'm still finding my way around it. I've had the roof down but doubt I'll do it often as it's a bit attention seeky.

Performance is blistering. There are sports and comfort modes for the suspension and eco/sports/manual modes that change throttle response, steering ratio and gear change. To be honest, sports mode is a bit full on. It spins up very quickly and maxes out the revs in a blur. At this point the noise from the exhaust is tremendous. Full sporty rasp and banging and popping on the overrun. It's definitely fun but it's not a 911 so I'm not sure there's much point driving it like one. It hits 60mph in a bawhair over 5 seconds and feels very fast. Average fuel consumption is sitting at 26mpg with legal motorway driving returning mid-30s which I expect to be as good as it will get. The average consumption should increase slightly once the honeymoon period is over and I stop driving it like a fanny.

So, it's awesome, why do I have doubts? Well, it's an 8 year old car packed with technology. I can envisage some hefty service/repair bills in the coming years. Yes my old CLK was, well, old but it was extremely reliable and cost me next to fuck all to run. As I said initially, I can't take it with me but I just hope that I've not bought a financial millstone.
