We had a great Xmas back at my Mum's in Northumberland, my nieces were over from Oz (3 of them, 2 17yr old's and a 19 yr old plus 19yr old's boyfriend). Great for my Mum as she hasn't seen them for 10 years. We stayed at the Holiday Inn near Gosforth as the house was full, quite enjoyed it..made it like a mini holiday and you have your own space when you want it.
Quiet New Year at home (fireworks until 3am aside)!...I'm glad to see the back of 2022, roll on 2023.

2022 was a brutal year for all things politics but as far as motorcycle sport was concerned it was epic. Especially if you are a Ducati lover.

That's shit Ed, the joys of family getting old!!!.....
I'm very happy that Mum got to see the girls because she will never be able to go to Oz, so it was nice for her. And I'm proud of them for doing what they have done, flying from Brisbane to Rome on Dec 5th then stopping at Basel, Paris, Amsterdam, Newcastle, London, Edinburgh, Manchester (all by train and bus). Impressive for young kids, and they had to negotiate the UK rail strikes as well when going to/from London. They're ready to go home now though!!.

Well happy new year to you all. Not sure realistically how much happiness there will be this year but I can say the NHS isn't adding much to it. I'm starting to think that Canadian euthanasia thing isn't a bad idea. The step dad is back in hospital looking like ghost or something and my mum is going on about doing herself in as she can't understand where he went eveb though I tell her ever other day. She also can't understand why see can't go home on her own.
Fucking parents. At least I won at bowling today so not all bad.

Happy New Year to all.
I went up to see my mum just before Christmas for a couple of days. Ended up staying 10 after she had a minor accident. 20 minute wait at A&E minor injuries, 20 minute wait for ECG to check out her heart, longer wait for a doctor to look at that, 3 hour wait for CT scan of brain, just to be sure all ok, 1 hour wait for doctor to look at results. Seems all ok, nothing additional to existing conditions. About 9 hours in total, 3 different departments. At the last department we were sat in the corridor, all the consultation rooms were full as they couldnt shift patients onwards to other wards as they were full. Staff were fine, but A&E minor injuries only had 5 of 7 on duty. NHS is under stress, in case anyone doesnt believe the news. Looking forward to BJ's 40 new hospitals and the 50,000 'more' nurses target being hit as promised last election.

Christmas was OK. Neither myself or my wife have ever been big fans, but we make a bit of an effort for our boys. It was also tempered by Mum having to move out of her home due to a massive water leak in the loft! All of the rooms, except for my old bedroom above the garage, are a write off. Insurance is involved and the house will eventually be repaired etc, but it'll be a long time before she can move back in ☹️
We were meant to have Xmas dinner at Mums place, but ended up having an impromptu Sunday roast at home instead... We didn't even buy crackers!
Mum has alternated staying at my brother's in Malvern and my sister's in Hereford. Her insurance covers her for £40k accommodation costs, so she's not completely homeless!
On Boxing day we travelled "Oop North" to see my in-laws for a few days!
New Year's eve was spent at home, as usual. Discovered the Detectorists on the BBC iPlayer and we binged watched the first season.

Happy New year you slaaaaaags.
I made it to Thailand but the journey out was a fucking disaster and needs its own thread which I'll sit down and write when I have the time. Spent Xmas in Bangkok and new year in Chiang Mai which was just tremendous with thousands of lanterns being launched into the night sky. Off to Koh Samui now.
Hopefully the journey back will be less chaotic.

Happy new year wankers.
Tried to have two weeks off work, but ended up having to do a load of stuff today instead of being off. Was in Gloucestershire from 22nd to 29th, nice family xmas, no drama. Back to Madrid for the new year and an in-law surrounded welcoming to 2023 then a house party at a friend's house that went on until 6am was nice.
The three kings arrive tonight and bring the presents which that fat lazy cunt Santa couldn't be arsed to take to the UK with him, so tomorrow is a bank holiday here! Best of both worlds for us!

Sorted that for you 🤣 Seriously, fair play for chucking the sauce. I know how much of a sacrifice it must have been for you. I well remember chucking the fags and the weed but I always had sweet alcohol to fall back on. Start a thread and let us know how it goes. I love single malt too much to make this level of commitment but I'd fully support any cunt who has the bollocks to take a massive step like this. I'm actually half canned the now so that proves I'm sincere. Probably. |

Woah there sugar tits...I should have said, 'for a period of time, not yet determined'. No way am I canning off booze for good. Ive too much invested in whisky to make it permanent. No, I think just a few months...To be honest, Ive not missed beer one bit, but I think I'll miss wine with my Sunday dinner tomorrow, and the subsequent bucket of scotch with NFL until 3am
