I'm guessing even if performance didn't change, they'd in theory last 4000 hours which is enough to opt for them?
Do you use them?

Never used them. Can't say I've looked into them much but sounds like snake oil to me.
4,000 hours at an average of say 45 mph is 180,000 miles... really?

They are only about twice the price of normal ones. Think the service intervals are 7500 miles for changing them in the GSXR. I know it's an easy job but one I'd rather not bother with every couple of years as I've got threaded head phobia (even though I've never threaded one). These things would in theory last the bike's life?

Maybe, who claims 4,000 hours? and in what engine under what use?
4,000 hours in Doris' Morris Traveller isn't exaclty the same as 4,000 hours in Max Wrist's crotch rocket is it...
Call me a cynic but claiming that a spark plug (thing that generates a spark by forcing high voltage electricity into a pressurised chamber full of explosive gas) is going to last longer than the cam chain, for example, is likely to last seems a tad on the optimistic side.
I use standard plugs in my GSXR and have only changed them once in nearly 50,000 kms. Though I guess I should change them a bit more often maybe.
I get your concern about thread stripping, I stripped one on a girlfriend's Z250 twin years back, it wasn't very convenient to say the least.
