Quite a lot of differences in grand prix racing from then to now. Some good,some bad.
That old Assen layout, think they fucked up big style by cutting off the northern loop.
Push starts, hated them when I raced, never saw how a motorcycle race should require 30 odd riders to bump start their machines. Dangerous as fuck.
Lapping riders. Used to be part and parcel of racing, never see it now.
Touring, ditto above
Loved watching the works Honda mechanics changing a plug on Spencer's V4. Those exhausts!!!

I used to hate the bump starts, a big risk of the race being ruined before it literally got going. You could practice bump starts in the paddock and get it spot on,4 or 5 steps then the real thing, the silence, the tension, then the fucking noise was deafening and you couldn't hear properly if yours had fired up. Get it wrong and the race is over. Crazy. |

This brings back memories of those days when there was virtually no tv coverage of the GPs and we had to wait till the winter when MCN took a film show around the country, we went to a sports centre in Darlington to see it.
