I spoke to a colleague earlier this week who'd been in the US about a month ago. She said they hired a huge SUV and filled it for under $50. And that tank lasted for ages.
We are tying to 'multi reason' our drives out.

I've never done leisure driving, probably because I've never had a car worthy of leisure driving in or I've never seen the point to be honest! My bike on the other hand... I'll chuck 97 - 99 octane petrol in that all day long and not bat an eyelid, even at today's prices!

Well I meant that sort of impulse going out and using the car, rather using it for shopping or work. Not so much Doris and Boris taking the Allegro out with a flask of coffee type stuff, just 'lets get a coffee' stuff.
When it comes to the bikes it's just a cost of the hobby. It would have to be £5/l before I'd stop motorcycling. Luckily I have decent twisties all within half a mile of my house so even if I didn't do many miles I'd still decent fun per mile.

Cost €120 to fill my car last week, it's been more but I try not to think about it!...as for leisure driving I don't really do much, seems pointless just driving around for the sake of it. If it's for something specific like a visit somewhere then fine. As for the bike, it's the same, there aren't really any places you can ride here that excite me. I miss living in Edinburgh and being able to get on the bike and be in the country on great roads withing a short amount of time.

I've never had that sort of impulse either for a car; however, if my mate from Hereford called me on a nice day and said, "Fancy meeting up for a coffee in Abergavenny?", I'd hop on my GSX-R and I'd be there in less than an hour!

That's a problem with having a wife that doesn't ride a motorbike. She's been on the back of my bike once and didn't fancy it even though I didn't rag it. That said, I didn't like it either. The braking distances two up are massive.

When I first met my now wife she'd never been on bike before so when i gave her the first shot on the back i decided to take it easy to begin with and if she was ok I'd do the thrillseeker ride. I got the thumbs up so gave her her first ton up and she was fucking ecstatic. Honestly wouldn't think she was there. Thankfully she's only five foot and built like the gable end of a crisp so braking distances were normal.

I don't think I'd enjoy it if she had a bike though. I imagine we'd have to have two slow bikes, or I'd be either pissed off I wasn't going fast enough or going fast and then worrying they'd bin it keeping up. She used to have a moped many moons ago but that's not a GSXR.

I genuinely cannot believe the volume of traffic on the roads. I need to be on my way by 0645 or the traffic to get onto my A road is really bad, and that ignores getting in the other end. Sometimes leaving for home at 1815 is a wind up. I work near a big railway station and have noticed the car park approaching pre lockdown loading again.
I'm not sure that Sunak can head off interest rate rises and it will be interesting to see as more people remortgage when fixed rate deals need redoing whether weekend roads are quieter as people make adjustments.

That is why I was hoping the car would last (It's running again with new injectors and a total bill of £390) as I'd read the car market may take a wallop over winter as people decide if they really need two cars and vanity cars etc. Hopefully a drop in people who can't pay on the never never will open up the market a bit with repossessions and returns. Then again it may fuck the used market as more people want cheaper cars.
Loads of fuckers at work have new cars but it's a lease-hire shit.

I drive my 325i for pleasure and this year have done Madrid to Santander and back with a good few routes over the weekend with a car club, that was over 1100kms all in, and if I'm honest I try not to think about how much it cost.
Last time out was the annual outing to Jarama for the classic car "parade", it's only 20 minutes of circuit time though, the rest of the day is spent trying to calculate how much beer you can drink and still drive home with a chance of passing a breath test if you're stopped. Still, got to put 98 in the tank for that.
My wife's Touran 1.2 will do double the MPG of my car but there's sod all to enjoy about that though.
