There's no doubt that you need to work much harder as you get older to stay fit but what's the alternative? Your body naturally changes shape and injury is never far away if you're not careful but I'm hoping for an active lifestyle well into my 60s and that takes work.
My old man stopped working in his early 50s and spent the next 40 years in front of the telly. Fuck that. What a shite fucking excuse for a life.

Well, here we fucking go again.
I chucked the gym about 9 months ago as it was a waste of time. Despite all good intentions I'd done fuck all exercise since. Finally overcame chronic lethargy and got out on the bike. The sensible thing would have been to start small and build up but like a daft cunt I decided I could fire straight into my old 40km route. Enjoyed the first hour but fuck me, I thought my quads were going to explode by the end.
4-5 cycles in now and the distance is fine. Doing 18 km/hr fairly consistently. Hoping to get this up to 20 before the end of the month.
Obviously exercise is more difficult as you get older but it was a big mistake doing fuck all for so long. Won't be going back to the gym but might seek out some decent phone apps for home exercise.
Youth is wasted on the young ðŸ˜

I still go to the gym 3 times a week but just basic compound stuff with higher reps, do some core work too. I’m in and out in 45mins….throw in regular walks and that’s about it. My left knee doesn’t like cycling anymore!
I’ve recently switched to decaf coffee as my bp is too high, also cutting back on alcohol…..not that I drink a lot, it’s usually Friday and Saturday evenings at home with some wine. Haven’t had any this weekend and want to see if my bp reduces over the next few weeks. Need to drop some weight too, 94kg atm so my target is 90kg.
P.S. Keep up the training Noodle, it’s always tough getting back into it after a long layoff. Even regular brisk 45m - 1hr walks( not far reallly), help maintain your cardio levels.

The grind is real. The best thing to do is never really stop. As you say it's hard to get going again.
I'm not out of shape compared to most people I guess but I feel I need to maybe go back to the weights. The autism of the diet isn't welcome but I did look miles better back then but then again that was 10 years ago and maybe I'll never look that way again?

The older we get, the more we have to do to stay the same.
I've had a shocker of a year so far. 2 stone over.
I've also binned off coffee. I was drinking too much of it. A wise fella said that prostates hate it an a wise lady said she binned it and saw her anxieties fall away. It is a bladder/prostate irritant so at a certain age, time to go.
I am eating and drinking less. Commuting by bike more, so hope to shed the timber.
Despite never testing +ve for the Covids, I wonder if I have had and have long covid. For months, I have had a niggly throaty cough and my nose runs like a tap when I exercise.

Could be acid reflux, silent reflux even. That's one cause of post nasal drip. I had it recently as I'd been overdoing it on all the wrong foods for reflux.
On holiday at moment. Managed to catch something that feels pretty similar to the COVID I had just recently. FFS. In bad books as I am an inconvenience now and sat in the apartment on my own.
