Must have been some sort of group ride out as loads where parked up, even a 450hp turbo bastard one. Previously I've never really been interested in them but now I'm sort intrigued what they are like. I've ridden sports bikes so I imagine they are just the same thing but with more grunt as you move up the power scale.
Do they handle like shit or are they surprising?

Apparently they are very stable and require "setting up" for a corner. If you have ever ridden a Super Blackbird or a ZZ-R1100/1200/1400, I imagine that they're very similar.

Hideous bikes. The first ones were fine but that swoopy bodywork pish is fucking awful.

I must be going through the change. I found them less mong than I used to, aesthetically that is.

Never ridden one, never liked the look of them but wouldn’t mind having a blat on one…I used to have a Blackbird so probably not too dissimilar, but more powerful.

Hayabusa is Japanese for peregrine falcon.
A peregrine falcon with an arse like Kim Kardashian.

Just read a review on Bennetts and it seems like they don't hit any real target apart from straight line speed. Shit as a sportsbike, shit as a sports tourer, pointless if you don't want to really go fast.
I'd imagine if you buy one at £4k it will spend 3 months in pieces while you replace all the bearings and rebuild the suspension.

Suzuki quality from that era seems to be a bit better than what they are famed for though.
Steering bearings will likely be shot (or will have been replaced with aftermarket tat and need changing again).
But unless it has been an all weather bike and with mega-miles I'd expect the rest to be more or less OK.
My 2005 GSXR has got nearly 90k kms on it and the swing arm and shock linkage bearings are fine. I've replaced the steering bearings and rear wheel bearings. I suspect that the front wheel bearings were done before I got it, can't believe they'd be original.
Forks are OK, although they seem to have lost a bit of damping adjustment range at the softer settings.
I keep trying to convince myself that the rear shock must be shagged by now, but it isn't.
