That's a nice bike but would too much of a nod to the 10 be a bit detrimental?

Inline 4 is good.

Now officilly launched!
Sounds tempting at first, 80 bhp (with ram air at high speed) but 188kg kerbside weight kind of takes the edge off that. Not even 0.5bph/kg.
I'd rather have an in-line 4 before a twin, but when you stack it up against the Aprilia RS with a lower weight and 100bhp...
Its going to have to be cheaper to compete.

I'm surprised it is going to make Europe. How can inline 600s be dead but yet we have a 80hp 400? What emissions magic have they discovered?
I hope Honda make a new cbr400.
Is that weight wet? I hope so.

Yes, kerbside weight = wet.
But even so, its around about the same as my 2005 GSXR (163kg dry, so allow 25kg for liquids), but with slightly over half the power...
I'm out.

Despite my calls of take my money it will still very much depend on money. I guess if it's £10k or something you can count me out. Given the price of the cheapo Ninja 400 I doubt it will be less than £8000

The report I read in the Spanish press said to expect a pricetag of around 10k greasy Euros.
So, heavier than an Aprilia RS, less powerful, same price... I guess they're really counting on peoples' hankering for in-line 4s.
Out of interest, I just looked at the Honda Mexico web for the 2023 CBR600 spec and it weighs in at..... 186kg wet!
The ZX4rr is heavier than a CBR600!! WTAF?

Hmmm. Was sort of hoping for something coming in at a lower weight and less money. I guess they may try for the nostalgic 50 year olds with boutique bike money. Tbh I would actually go for the RS660 at £10k. I've seen them nearly new for less than £8k.
I've now got a stupid idea to buy an early Porsche Boxster in my head so this 400cc idea isn't as pressing anymore. I like the Sunday car meet I go to more than hanging around with scummy bikers so I fancy something for a Sunday drive. Also still looking at MK2 Golfs but they are either really good and cost it or shit and sold as 'projects'.

If I had 10k to throw at bike I'd still be going for a late Daytona 675R. Unsurprisingly also lighter and more powerful than the ZX4RR.

And now a threat from Honda to introduce a CBR 750R in 2024 based on the Hornet!
A 750 twin with a steel tubular frame, potentially 95bhp.... CBR R ? Really?
This is getting sillier than when Kawasaki called the GPz500S a GPz...

It does appear bikes are devolving.
I must say there is perhaps a market of people who don't care about speed. Last year I was talking to this bloke with a GSR600. He said it was good bike blah blah and then I started asking how it was around the bends on the brakes etc and the bloke said he wasn't really into that side of things so didn't know. At first I was like wtf, you gay bro but after some thought maybe I was the odd one out in this modern world?

It does appear bikes are devolving. Good expression. Maybe the markets are driven by older riders more interested in freedom, comfort and safety? Like cars, I'm happier now with a weedier motor - one that won't bite me.

The markets are driven by the older riders for sure. The younger generation don't have the same universal appreciation for speed and danger that we seem to have . Also the older riders are the ones with the cash. But why pretend that 200kg 80 bhp bikes are the mutt's nuts? We might be old, but we're not fucking stupid. 20 years ago, if you didn't want / coudn't handle / couldn't afford / couldn't insure a GSXR, you bought an SV650 and that was that. Nobody needed to call it a GSVR 6RR and sell it for the same price as "real" sportsbike it was standing in for.
Rant over. Carry on.
