KTM doing better at Mandalika... must be the dirt bike heritage.

If only Rins would learn not to crash, he would really be up there. Reminds me of Stoner in his early days. Stopped crashing and started to win WC's.

Problem is that for Rins these aren't exactly "early days".... but I agree.

Yeah a bit like early days Miller now in year 8.
Ive just read that this new circuit is a shithole and covered in shit. Riders told to all do 20 laps to clean it up.

Pol showing that Colin Edwards pace when it doesn't matter? Be funny if he was Honda's new saviour. To be fair he doesn't lack commitment.
Also AEsp showing genuine pace?

I've got a feeling that Pol's optimism and excitement will turn swiftly to excuse making and degenerate into finger pointing within a few rounds.
To expect him to be ahead of Marquez in Qatar is bordering on clinical insanity.
But the Aprilia story seems like it might actually be different this year. Aleix seems to be consistetly fast and ViƱales only a 10th behind him bodes well.
Glad to se Morbidelli getting a bit faster too, it wasn't looking good for Yamaha with only one fast rider in all testing.

I'd quite like to see a Morbidelli revival given how well he rode in 2020. Also like to see Alex Marquez do something as he seemed to have figured it out at one point.

I'm still not sure about Aprilia being a force yet. On day 3, neither did a long run with decent times dipping into the 32s. A. Espargaro did a longest run of 7 laps, 3 in the 32s. Vinales did a run of 20 laps, fastest was 1.33.155. The best long run was from Nakagami. He did a 21 lapper with 12 laps in the 32s. 2nd best was Quatararo, 18 laps run, 7 in the 32s. 3rd Olivera, 20 laps, 4 32s.
Fastest lapper P. Espargaro did a lot of 32s, but his longest run was 6 laps.

I see what you're saying about Aprilia and their potential "one lap wonder" status from "its only testing", but then you go and spoil it by saying that Nakagami is the best in terms of fast lap consistency...
Aprilia maybe fearing many riders over race distance but I'd be prepared to wager that Nakagami isn't one of them.

Actually maybe I am reading to much into Aprilia doing ok. Espargaro is probably going full tilt on that thing all the time so that's actually as good as it gets. I'd imagine most riders don't want to push too hard before the start of season.

Yes, both he and Naga found something only for it to peter out. I'm afraid their time is up. Hope they prove me wrong. Naka IS fast, but can't be fast raceday. I'm mostly waiting for Bastanini, think he has so much determination and rides hard on what he has instead of whining.

Is the Yamaha still slowest? If you take average times of the fastest lap of each rider (excluding test riders) per manufacturer yes, Yamaha are slowest: Average fastest lap by manufacturer: 1, Aprilia 1'58.209 2, Suzuki 1'58.395 3, Ducati 1'58.504 4, Honda 1'58.540 5, KTM 1'59.061 6, Yamaha 1'59.205 I've just wasted 15 minutes doing the same average fastest lap time by manufacturer for the Mandalika test (to be read in an Alan Freeman voice): Staying at Number one for a second week we have: 1, Aprilia 1'31.432 Rising 2 places from number 4 to this weeks number 2: 2, Honda 1'31.458 Down 1 for last week's number 2; 3, Suzuki 1'31.532 Last weeks number 3 also losing one place; 4, Ducati 1'31.645 Up one place from last is; 5, Yamaha 1'31.857 And rounding out the top 40 this week; 6, KTM 1'32.048 That's all pop pickers.

Acosta will smash it. Dude was already running hotlaps on a R1 when he was in Moto3.

We think Acosta's most used interview phrase will be 'We need to manage the tyres better'. When he says "we" he meant "I". When I said "we" I meant 'I'.
