www.bikesportnews.com/news/news-detail/tarran-mackenzie-and-the-tough-path-back-to-the-world-stageIs it all down to money? There is no doubt BSB is very entertaining, cheaper to run in than WSB because of the electronics rules. But since we dont have British & NI wild cards in WSB any longer due to the different technical regulations how do race teams know exactly how good the BSB winner is? Getting into WSB appears to be via WSS these days. If you want to race in WSB, head to WSS after BSS. We need British teams with British sponsors for that.

MacKenzie must have had enough insider knowledge to know exactly what the price of entry into the top level is?
That 'Ring of Fire' I read had a section Scott Redding and his parents. By the time he made it to Motogp 125s they were £250k deep.
MacKenzie is good but not 'the next big thing' good so until you make that world impact there are no free rides. Maybe Father Mac knows the real truth of the matter and knows it's wasted money.

As good as we think BSB is, the premier class hasnt produced a world beater since Bayless (maybe Camier if he had got the breaks). All our world champions came from Superteens and Supersport. Possibly the best man won this year but he wasnt head & shoulders above Jason O or the Devises swearbox. Not even at the level of Scott Reading and that's the minimum to go forward into world championships with a paid ride.

He has been to Assen before in BSB, so thats hopefully 1 wild card. Its also scheduled for the end of April, so we dont get to wait too long. Do we have anyone shining in any series who wants to go to WSBK. I dont think Dixon has given up in the MotoGP series yet. Is Booth-Amos in with a shout of WSS on a Kawasaki?
I thought O'Halloran was the better rider overall this year, but not much in it. His issue was he won races at the start of the season when they were worth 5 points, MacKenzie won more in the showdown phase when a win was worth 25 points.
JO had 11, 5 & 4 (1st, 2nd & 3rd). TM had 10, 4 & 5

As good as we think BSB is, the premier class hasnt produced a world beater since Bayless (maybe Camier if he had got the breaks). All our world champions came from Superteens and Supersport. Hodgson, plus Sykes and Rea came through BSB, but neither of the latter won the British Championship. There have also been plenty of other front runners /winners in WSB who have won BSB championships and races; Byrne, Lowes, Haslam, Crutchlow, Toseland, Walker etc.

Good point but I dont really consider Sykes & Rea as developing through BSB, they were part of the same group as Stoner, Chaz, Jones, Cal & Camier who really developed through superteens them 600's.

It was the route which was available to them at the time and they all ended up in BSB, except for Stoner of course... God knows what happened him 😉
Very few UK riders end up in BSB without coming up through the "lower" classes before heading off to WSB these days; Redding would be a good example of an exception. Foreign riders are a different matter... Bayliss, Guintoli, Kagayama and Kiyo spring to mind, although the latter two hardly set WSB on fire.
