Why do we have to have "artificially close" racing?
We already have "spec" this that and the other, even a single engine supplier in Moto2.... if they want to iron out the advantages of the bigger players, they will have to be aware that these bigger players may well take their ball home.....

It's not about 'artificially close' racing to be fair Clipper, it's about cost, and making it easier for the non factory teams to compete on a slightly more even footing.
It's not the component cost, it's all the people writing the strategies for these components if they manipulate outputs as suggested. That is basically down to who is willing to spend more.
If you spend 5k on staff for a weekend to optimise your IMU outputs, I'll spend 10k and optimise it to a finer detail using high sampling rates, more man hours etc. Stuff like that you can just spend more and more, no limit really.
Make it a control sensor, with no ability to manipulate outputs, and that particular avenue for gaining an undetectable advantage by spending loads more cash is removed.
Common sense in this instance I'd say.
