Interesting Q, Rossi 2nd but saying to podium will be dificlut....
Marquez can only get away with so many saves... he seems like his own worst enemy to me.
Glad that Crutchlow ignored the doctor!!

I dont know where the quote came from but someone on BT Sport said that was not the case. They said from Lap 1 Marc knew it was time to go to slicks and he did not want to alert his rivals that he was going to pit - so he let them past, then pit. If thats true its genius. It does explain why he dropped back so fast (I personally do not believe the soft tyre would have caused him to loose that much ground so quickly).

Also Courtesy of Crash.net.... Afterwards there were suspicions that race winner Marquez had deliberatly let some riders past just before making a decisive early pit stop, so the frontrunners would be unaware he had pulled into the pits. "I knew he was pitting because he never fought back!" Crutchlow said. "That's not Marc's nature and as we went into the last corner I looked across and I could see him. I thought 'you bastard!' Because I knew he had out-foxed us again, the same as in Sachsenring last year."

I was referring to the tyre choice as a mistake, as per MM's quote...however his actions wrt letting othes pass him so the leaders being unaware could indeed be genius!!

Sounds like MM made a poor judgement choosing soft wet tyres and a genius to ride the slicks on a still damp track. So did he overtake Rossi on slicks before Rossi had even pitted to change?

marc said he hoped to get 4 or 5 laps out of the soft rain tyre before he expected to change bikes. think he was unlucky the tyre didn't work so moved his plan forward by a few laps. amazing ride. great for his championship. dani closes the gap too. shame about lorenzo. the team kept him waiting for ages during the bike change and he lost touch. see how he goes next week.

Rossi and his team f**ked up again with regards to changing bikes. Maybe his was on harder compounds and thought that MM would struggle for a couple of laps on slicks in the drying conditions.

I think Marquez made a mistake with his tyre and that made his mind up to go in early. He probably would have gone in earlier than most anyway.
Amateur hour by most of the teams. Folger followed Marquez in but Tech 3 weren't ready, Lorenzos crew the same, embarrassing stuff really. Iannone and Espagaro incident was bound to happen at some point, surprised its taken this long.
Rossi is poor with flag to flag and so are Yamaha. Surely they must have had more than one meeting about flag to flag yet they continue to fuck it up.
Quick rant about race direction, very slow in getting the red flag out in moto2, and why didn't they delay the motogp race by ten minutes? All the commentators were saying how quickly it was drying. If they had waited we could have had a classic instead of that shambles. I know someones gonna say it can't be moved due to tv but surely you wait ten minutes and miss the podium at the end but get a good race instead. Poor weekend for a lot of people methinks.

At the start do they have the spare bike set up exactly the same as the 1st, just in case there is a problem with the #1 bike at the start? As soon as they start then they change the bike to 'dry'. Guess it depends what they have to change on the bike, different shock/fork springs or just adjust the settings, maybe. If they know it going to take x minutes to change, then the rider will have to stay out until they have had a chance to do all the work. I can't believe they haven't thought all this through.

How many times do they practice the actual bike swap over a weekend - and what does that actually achieve in the real world; getting off one bike and onto another, maybe if they practice they can save a second, 2 at max? And yet they have riders coming in and bikes are not ready, and have them staying out lap after lap when its 10s a lap faster on slicks. Alexis team should not have let him leave the pits with the Suzuki coming in. That was their responsibility and they got that task wrong too. It's all a bit of a joke, and as said above, it ruined what could have been a great race. The top 4 seemed pretty close on pace.
