The entry list is like a flashback to 15-20 years ago. Akira Yanagawa and Kagayama!
Surprised Ducati didn't enter a proper team.

Drama, controversy!
It was a close race throughout between the top Kwack, Yamaha and Honda teams but it went mad around 20 minutes to go. Rea overtaking someone on the outside who proceeded to run over an exhaust can on the track, lost the front and nearly wiped out Rea. Next shot was a bike smoking down the s/f straight, but luckily didnt drop any oil. Next shot a mechanics laptop showing the rain radar with rain heading that way. Light rain as it got dark, Rea in a comfortable lead, Lowes past Takahashi for 2nd and it looked like it would remain that way. Then with 5 minutes to go a Suzuki fighting for the overall world title blew up big style but the rider kept going both off and on track in places to get back in. About 2 laps later Rea crashed on oil or water? Red flag came out, Rea couldnt get back to the start within 5 minutes, finished 53rd. Rea and Haslam rode well, to end like that must be devastating. vd Mark and Lowes felt the Kawasaki team were unlucky, but as Lowes said sometimes things run your way, sometimes they dont. Nakasuga looked more happy. Maybe after that blow-up in the dark there should have been a safety car so they could check the track. Rea might have lost his 20s lead, it might have finished under the safety car. Who knows, what-ifs etc.

Ryder looking at his timing screen to check on the Suzuki #9s led over the Kwack for the title and confirming the Suzuki has it under control whilst on screen we were watching it blew up in a cloud of smoke was unfortunate. Cruel to lose the title with less than 6 minutes to go.

After a protest/enquiry the winners are now Rea and Haslam as the "get your bike back to the pits within 5 minutes of the red flag" rule doesn't actually exist in endurance racing and they just go back to the lap before the flag came out.

Sounds fair enough, rules are rules. As an aside, didnt there used to be a rule in 1 or more series that if a race was red flagged due to track conditions (oil etc) then if someone had fallen off on oil then they were included in the results but if they fell off when the track was fine but due to an error they were excluded? Masson Looks like Rea crashed on oil at the spot (turn 5) where Masson got off the racing line at 1:20 ...... or did he? Plenty of other riders would have gone over it. Oil I think, he went down easy. Maybe. Rea

Watched it all live with a few beers. I have always loved Endurance racing. Strange ending.

Terry Rymer was my favourite British rider in the late 80's and early 90's. But after the 1992 British GP when all 3 of the young (ish) Brits got an entry on Harris YZR's, I soon realised that Foggy was the main man. Still a very good rider and perhaps hampered by his size.
