In 2016, 33.601 seconds behind the winner would have seen them placed 11th. In 2015, 15th. In 2014, 9th. Next race is this weekend, it will be interesting to see how they fare at a different track.

There will be an accountant somewhere in KTM working out the cheaper of two options: Switch motor or hire Aleix Espargaro!!
Seriously, the Aprilia progress must be quite encouraging for KTM so I doubt they are too worried. Being last doesn't look good, but all new teams take a year or two to get up to speed. And although I might get slated for this, once they show some potential, they will be able to attract some better riders.

Neither Pol nor Bradley are slow; top tier satellite riders and occasional podium worriers, but not championship contenders. My only concern with Bradley was his pace on Michelin tyres last year. Until one of these bikes i.e. the Aprilia, KTM or Suzuki, is a regular podium contender in the hands of one of these satellite riders, they'll never attract a top rider unless there is nowhere else for them to go.

I would say that Iannone is step above Bradley and Pol, despite his crash happy tendencies.

You're probably right, but the only way that he will be a podium contender is to stay on the bike in the first place

Well, we are a way into the season now, and KTM have not come anywhere close to being within 30 seconds of race winner as they did first time out...
In fact, the gap to first by the best KTM rider has been:
33.6 P Esp 43.1 P Esp 1.22.1 Brad 48.0 Brad 52.7 P Esp 50.9 Brad 40.0 P Esp 1.09.4 P Esp
I wouldn't say that this looks encouraging... will they make some improvement over the summer break? I hope so, what with Mahindra pulling out of Moto 3... if they can't afford to stay in the lower class, what does that sugest about KTM in MGP?
What with the (possible) exit of Redding and Lowes from MGP, I hope Bradley's seat is safe....
