Now I do a lot of looking at bikes and not much buying but I have noticed this year prices seemed to have dropped, a fair bit for some things. Even sure bet stuff like RGV250s and RS250s have dropped. VFR400s as well.
I always wanted a 250 stroker but never owned one. Had a RG125F and crashed it before it ever needed engine work. Had a KMX125 which seized on the way to work and friend of friend had a few engines he wanted rid of so I just swapped it for working one until I sold it.
How much care do sports 250s need? How long can you realistically do between it needing some sort of rebuild of some part of it
Prices have dropped below 6k and I've seen a few less than 5k so I'm tempted. This said when I did Cadwell I'd had enough of this fucker on a RGV250 who kept getting past on the brakes and then being off the pipe out of the bends. It seemed like a lot of work.

You are right about the prices, I noticed the same. Significant drop.
Top end needs doing around 10k. Thats about as far as my knowledge goes. 250's are a lottery - Ive had a couple that have had zero mechanical issues, and I;ve also had the dreaded powervalue failure where it drops into the barrel - and that was on an extremley low milegae bike maybe just 3k on the clock.
They def need care and tlc though. Last one I had I took to Aprilia Performance in Tamworth to have it checked over immediatley after purchase. The bike looked sound but I just wanted it done for peace of mind. That garage are the go to place for anything Aprilia - the guy who runs it knows everything and I mean everything about Aprilias so you could have it checked over there if its within distance.
