This may be twatty but BSB is looking like it's got itself a real 'national' level championship this year. No up and coming talents and talents coming in still hot from better series.

Your whole observation sounded a bit xenophobic, but obviously it was not so I apologise for the misunderstanding.
The last "big hitter" or "still hot talent" from an international series to join BSB was probably Scott Redding; as far as I know he had never raced in the UK fulltime on full length, national tracks.

Across the Main Season comprising twenty four races points will be awarded to the top 15 on the scale: 18-16-14-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1.
For the Showdown events when the series returns to Oulton Park and Donington Park, the points value per race will increase to: 25-22-20-18-16-14-12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1.
The points value per race will increase again for the traditional season finale on the Brands Hatch GP Circuit to: 35-30-27-24-22-20-18-16-14-12-10-8-6-4-2.
“The new format will recognise season long performance and ideally create the opportunity for more teams and riders to remain in mathematical title contention and maintain the crescendo of competition that is seen many other sports disciplines.”

1st race at Silverstone 7-9th April. I was looking at hotels last night. I went for Saturday last year and it was a good day. The weather was good, bright and sunny, temperature was 18c. Not so sure I fancy it next weekend, going off this.
Met Office long range forecast for UK for 3rd to 12th April. The start of this period is most likely to be changeable. Showers or longer spells of rain remain prevalent, with heavy bursts still likely in places on Sunday. Drier and brighter interludes are possible as well, mainly across western regions, however these may be short-lived as further bands of rain are expected to arrive from the west. Eastern coasts may be rather grey and misty at times. The latter part of the period looks likely to become more settled, albeit with some wetter interludes, these most likely in the south and west of the country. Stronger winds at times, but temperatures remaining close to average, feeling pleasant in any sunshine. There is potential for overnight frost where skies are clear in the north and east.
The long range forecast for Wednesday is max 10c. Fuck that.

Its going to be pissing down today, so I might run the numbers through Leon Camier's runaway win to see how close it would have made it. It was that year which started the rule frigging changes.

Other season long sports dont have a twatting frig to the points.

So if 2009 results were to the new points: Going into the last round Camier, would have a lead of 37 points, not 99.5. With a race win worth 35 at the final round, it makes it a lot tighter, which is the idea. He would have won by 82 points, not 136.5. Easton in 3rd, would be 74 points behind Camier, not 150.5. So still in with a chance. Camier won 16 full point races & the 1/2 points race, out of the 23 before the last round. If doing that means 1 race win + 2 point lead, it puts a lot of pressure on the final round, no room for a mechanical DNF. 2009 had 12 rounds, 2 races at each apart from Brands mid season and the final round. 1 race had 1/2 points.

Did less people turn up at Silverstone in 2009 then expected because the title had already been wrapped up? Looking back on it, I think it was more about getting fans through the gates and putting bums on seats.
