After R2 red flag, a typical spur of the moment, adrenaline running heat of the moment thing TB says. Bridewell, talking about O'Halloran being slow up Clay Hill "If you are going to be at the front in BSB you need to be at that level". Hmm, JO has won 7 races this year, 2 2nds. TB 1 win & 3 2nds. Going into Oulton, JO was 88 points ahead of TB. And after this weekend TB is ahead of JO. Every rider/bike has fast and slower parts around a circuit, down to gearing or whatever.

That statement was a bit of an eyebrow raiser...
It looked to me as if Hickmans pass was the more calculated of the two to be honest

Superbikes are out growing this circuit. As much as I love seeing the bikes fly up Clay Hill, though Water Tower and peel into Druids, something has to be done to slow down the entry into the latter, especially if the run off there is starting to prove inadequate and cannot be extended; Hizzy's was put into to slow down Knickerbrook, but I'm not sure what they could do for Druids!

I did a couple of track days there around 2001 & 2004. Its a great circuit. 1st time on my YZF750R, 2nd time on GSXR1000 and that was scary as fuck, front end was lifting a lot over the rises & bumps. Clay Hill 2012

I've spent a lot of time trackside there as it was one of my favourite tracks for photos and I'd usually do the full 3 days. Without resorting to old speed charts and the like I don't think you'll find massive increases in corner speeds. Pretty sure I saw a recent TT programme and one of the riders put a lot of the laptimes down to the increased power of the machines. I'd imagine Foggy had about 160hp in 1992?
Looking at Oulton laptimes from 2004 they are about 1.36 and now at 1.33. Not a massive evolution. The bikes are clearly more powerful and probably have a better spread of torque than older machines and probably have better tyres and brakes. I don't the circuit is dangerous as such. I guess any circuit is dangerous when you fall wrong, even Silverstone.

Oddly enough Jack Kennedy is about 4s a lap faster than Crutchlow in the 600s from 2005 and the 600s used to be a mega money, mega tuned class.

Comparing Thruxton lap times, I thought they would have dropped a lot since 2004, as its more of a horsepower circuit.
2004 R1 Emmett 1:16.114 2022 R2 O'Halloran 1:15.159
That was a surprise. I cant recall a change in layout at either circuits since then. But a dangerous corner is still a dangerous corner. There hasnt been an update to Truxton or Oulton run off iirc.
