Some clarity on the energy crisis.

Centrica have announced profits in the region of £1.2bn compared to around £300m a year ago. We're all seeing soaring energy bills and some of us may be customers of Centrica (British Gas). They're ripping us off, right? Well, it's not that simple.

The wholesale division of Centrica produce gas and sell it on the international market. Due to Russian cuntery, the price of that commodity has gone mental. So Centrica find themselves with an extremely valuable product. The market price is the market price however and this is what it's sold at.

The retail division of Centrica, British Gas, might as well be a completely different company. They buy on the same market and sell it to you at a modest profit.

So why doesn't Centrica wholesale sell to British Gas for less?
Well:
1. Why the fuck would they? They're creaming it in.
2. They probably can't. I'm no expert but such an arrangement would likely breach competition laws.

Ah but that's not the government's fault then? Maybe, maybe not. I'm old enough to remember the last Labour government being blamed for a global financial crash so the Tories need to suck this one up.

What clearly is the government's fault though is the level of poverty in the UK and the message to workers that they don't deserve a pay rise when (typically wealthy) shareholders are raking it in. Workers are being told that pay rises would fuel inflation. Energy company shareholders, who's profits are actually fuelling inflation, are not being told the same, oddly.

This is classic transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich, presumably as part of the levelling up program.

I genuinely fear for lower paid workers this winter. Domestic energy bills are projected to have trebled by January. Billionaire Rishi Sunak, the cunt who didn't know how to buy petrol with a debit card, claims he 'understands'. Thick Liz Truss threatens to make strikes illegal. 12 years of Tory government has led the UK into the biggest crisis in living memory and neither of these 2 arseholes will do anything to make it any better. In fact, listening to them at their hustings, spunking on about the levels of crisis in the UK as if they weren't key figures in the government that led us here, is indicative of the utter shambles that is the UK today.

In the great scheme of things today, this might seem a bit of a non-event, but Shapps is our bloody Transport Minister ffs. Its his job.

I actually bothered to check on thetrainline.com and currently there is 1 an hour on a reduced timetable, back to normal 3 an hour later in September;
Fri 2nd & 9th - 1 an hour - these arent strike days BTW
Fri 16th - 3 an hour






Word from the train company - 1 an hour to each of the 4 destinations, so thats 1 an hour to Manchester

Avanti West Coast disruption

Every hour, four trains will run from London Euston, to Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham.


I think Shapps has read that and thought, understandably perhaps, that is 4 trains to each of the destinations, but it isnt. Its 1 to each.
Apparently, he signed off the reduced timetable, as Transport Minister.
