BJ gave a bumbling speech about nuclear power stations requiring investment. He likened it to buying a new efficient kettle to save you money in the long run. Que cut and paste video of him out of context by 'Haggis_UK' on Twitter, making it look like he was giving advice for households to combat the electricity price rises. Leave EU spread lies about brexit, the Tory government have been lying for years and its worked, up to a point. Even Jeremy Corbyn has retweeted the video with "The energy price cap will rise 80% to £3,549 next month and Boris Johnson is telling people to buy a new kettle to save money on their bills over the course of a few hundred years."
I find this both funny and annoying. BJ has been made to look a right dick, funny. Its spread across social media, even local radio had it on their news.
But if this is now the standard of opposition from Labour, being dishonest, then politics in the UK is heading the same way as USA. Even the low grade newspapers, apart from the Daily Star, gave it a swerve on their front page. Hopefully Corbyn thinks again about this tactic. Lets face it, he isnt liked by a lot of people and didnt attract non-lefty voters to Labour in the last GE. At least Starmer gave this a swerve as well.

The kettle economics are the same as electric car economics. Buy £60k Tesla to help working families save money at the pumps. Funnily enough public access pay chargers are now charging so much that you may as well just use petrol. Even 'cheap' electric cars are £22-25k. That's really decent petrol car money, even more so if you buy used, it's REALLY decent car money.
I paid £2000 for my Mini Cooper D. Ok the guy who sold it thought he was pulling a fast one but after the initial £300 I put in, the car has literally wanted nothing but oil changes, brake pads and tyres. It's now into it's 5th year of my ownership. Buying an electric car makes zero economic sense to someone like me. Even if it dies tomorrow I've already decided I'm getting a low mileage Skoda Citigo as they prices are pretty good on those, good mpg and £20 tax.

Just been on a leasing site. 4 year lease on a Fiat 500 electric. £3000 downpayment. £341 a month. Total cost after 4 years £19,100. So basically £5k year before even moving. This makes no sense for people on normal incomes. £5k would get me a TT diesel that would probably run for another 5 years easily. Even if you spent £1k a year fixing it, it would still make more sense than buying/renting the cheapest new electric car.

At least Sunak admitted our high inflation problem was partly down to our workforce wage inflation, unlike EU countries who dont have the same issue of shortage of labour. He didnt specifically mention Brexit, but that is what he meant.
His item 1- our usage of natural gas, but Germany has a higher dependency on Russian NG but lower inflation.

COP26 seems like a distant memory now. Truss about to sign off on multiple new licences for new oil and gas exploration in Scotland. Also the Queen is on her holidays in Balmoral so Johnson and Truss take separate private jets to tell her that we've got another useless prime minister lined up. Just fucking email her!!!

I heard on the news that Suella Braverman is to be new Home Secretary. She was the attorney general who advised the government to ditch the NI protocol. Pritti Patel wants us to leave the ECHR, and expect no different from Braverman.

Has she not also said that she wants a return to fracking and that solar power can get fucked? This on the back of a summer where temperatures hit 40c in the UK. Every tory PM over the last decade has been significantly worse than their predecessor. Perhaps the biggest challenge that Truss will face is being a worse PM than BlowJob however I'm confident that she has the tools to succeed. She'll be a different type of shite to BlowJob. He wasn't stupid, he was just a lazy, entitled slob who expected to shag his way through life and get other cunts to finance his ostentatious lifestyle. Truss, however, genuinely appears quite stupid. Like, thick as fuck. If it's act then it's both baffling and extremely realistic. There are fun times ahead.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-62801913Prime Minister Liz Truss is understood to be planning to borrow billions to limit the expected sharp rise in energy bills for households and firms. It is understood that a typical energy bill could be capped at around £2,500 with full details expected on Thursday.Currently, a typical household's gas and electricity bill is due to rise from £1,971 to £3,549 in October.Once you know you are going to reach £2,500, fuck it, turn up the heating and sit in shorts? There needs to be an incentive to get everyone to use less fuel. Hopefully the full details will reveal how this is going to work. It should be means tested, depend upon the size of household, number of bedrooms etc, where you live (cold up North), lots of variables. Why not reduce tax/increase benefits for the poorest people? They need the most help. I cant see that happening, too many well off Tories will think they need help as well. On Martin Lewis' website, it gave me a prediction at current prices of a yearly bill of £1857. I'm currently on a fixed term deal which works out at £678.
