I hate this time in my life. I had a phone, it was a shit phone and really annoyed me with aggressive app shutting and no ability to run customs roms. Now I've smashed it good and proper (by accident) and need a new one. What a mindfuck. Samsung now have about 20 fucking models! J, A, S models and then some! All with multiple numbers. Every cunt is at it Redmi seem to have about 20 models like a redmi note 9 , 9a, 9s, 9t 9t lite, pro, pro max AND SO ON!!!
I'm not spending more than £200 and haven't a fucking clue what to get.

I had an ancient LG G5. I'd been toying with the idea of a new phone but my hand was forced a couple of weeks ago when I dropped it in the cludgie after an expensive night in a whisky bar.
Anyway, after running an old phone for so long I went all out and got a Samsung S21. It's an awesome bit of kit but the headphones need figured out. I use my phone for listening to music when cycling or on the other bike and the connection design is quite poor.
Takes incredible photos though.

I've got an old Nokia. A company I worked for gave us mobile phones if we were on call to get rid of the old pagers we had been using. That was 2007 I guess. I still use it, put my pay as you go sim in it. I've had to change the battery once and had to buy a new charger last month. As its an old thin pin, none of the local shops had them. I thought about replacing the phone with a smart phone, but as I use a laptop can do the e-banking e-commerce from that. But I dont fancy an expensive phone plan. So I had to buy a 'genuine Nokia' off e-bay. Given the stories and reviews, some explode on 1st usage so I set the charger up on a timer socket and stood well back. It was ok. Makes me laugh when I'm at the beach and some people get their smart phones out to check what the local weather station is recording for wind speed. Dropped my S9+ a couple of weeks back, screen smashed….over €200 for a new screen (I’ve already had it replaced once before), so buying a new one made more sense. Got a Galaxy A52 5G, €400….didn’t want to spend silly money.

I am truly puzzled at how Samsung has become a world leader in mobiles. I had one years back and it was shite, but I put it down to it being a low end model, now in my new job they've given me an A50 and it is shockingly bad. It claims to have 4GB RAM, but it really struggles to stream music and use Maps navigation at the same time. It has even decided to shut down when opening maps a few times.
I had a Realme 6 before which I gave to my wife, and in the same place, same company SIM card on the same contract she gets 2 bars of coverage and 4G, and my Samsung shows no coverage...
Even when it has coverage (according to the menu bar), loads of apps say that it has no internet connection.
If a low end Chinese company came out with such shite as their first attempt it would be slated by the press and techies everywhere and the company would have to propped up by Chinese faux-communism to avoid going under.
I'd buy another Realme tomorrow (although I'm nt sure if they are all as good as my 6 was) but I hope I never suffer another Samsung in my life.

An A70 could be the one. Seems good phone from the reviews and there's always the odd new but not wanted insurance claim stuff on ebay for a decent prices. I'd like to try an iphone but you don't seem to get so much for your money, even used.
I used to have an LG G5 a while back. I loved the modular thing and had the B&0 hifi plus DAC for it. It sounded awesome. Annoyingly various bits kept failing like volume buttons, replace. The volume again, replace. Then front camera, replace and then the original battery. Sadly the replacement ones off ebay were shit and didn't hold charge either.
Forgot I also replaced the screen on the G5 after I dropped it. At least it was an easy fix. Just got a new screen and frame, no heat guns needed.

As well as my cheap little PAYG Nokia, I also have: a land line GPS for the van GPS for the windsurfer to record speeds camera laptop for e-commerce internet etc coins for parking meters Maybe a £10 phone isnt so cheap. People actually put their £400 smart phones in £10 'waterproof' bags and go sailing with the GPS in their phone to record speeds. Madness. |

Yesterday was the 1st time I've got caught out by not having a smart phone. There is a nice pub in Studland which I called in at. Plenty of spare tables outside, I thought it would be heaving. Went to the pub door and a sign said no ordering at the bar, online ordering only. I asked a waiter as he was going back inside if I could have a ploughmans and half a bitter, I had an old phone without internet connection. He said no, its online ordering and payment only. I wasnt the only person to walk away either. Given the average age of people at the beach and in Swanage, where I went after, I guess the pub was losing a lot of business. |

Still not decided what phone to get. Last time i wanted a phone it had to last a full day. Now they all have massive 5000mah batteries so that's no problem.
Thinking of getting a new but customer returned one off ebay as prices aren't back. May get a Mi 10t lite. Seems to have speed, screen, decent cameras and you take pictures of your food in macro mode.

Not everyone wants to get duped into the smart phone world. I was like Phil until about 3 years ago when my Nokia kept fucking up because of particles of metal dust kept choking the earpiece and microphone in the workshop environment. I joined the masses and got an iPhone on a contract but on reflection I should have bought a decent phone bag and shelled out another tenner on a Nokia. Smartphones basically own people. You just have to look around any typical high st or in fact any fucking where and you see the control it has. Don't get me started on gigs or theatres. You can't see the act for the lights of cunts phones recording and sending to fucking Instagram or fucking Facebook. It totally grinds my gears. I watched a woman in her car the other day, child in back, at lights she absolutely couldn't leave her phone alone and was oblivious to the traffic around her. God knows how many times I see cars weaving over the lanes and what used to be a sign of a pissed driver is now some cunt on his phone. |

I was out with cunts from work a few weeks ago. Went to Drygate for food and beers and that was the deal, you download the app and order and pay using it. There were still some Covid restrictions at that time and although it was a pain in the tits, I could see the point of it. There was no crowd at the bar clamouring to be served and the round generally arrived within 5-10 minutes.
Downsides were, as expected, a lack of interaction with the bar staff at the ordering stage had its own issues but if you had comms or software glitches then you were never quite sure if the order had gone through.
But aye, we're well and truly in the matrix now. Life is more and more conducted via that portal in your paw and that's just how it is. Covid has forced us all into a brave (controlling?) new cyber world. We were heading there anyway but clearly not quickly enough.

My phone buying efforts have been fucked by Ebay. It's won't take payment from Paypal or my card. Just been on Amazon afterwards and payment went through using same card. Fucking ebay cunts. Funny how there's a problem when I'm getting 20% off. Cunts.
