Buchan got to the front at the right time. He had the pace to win but if he had sat behind Skinner a bit longer he would have missed out.

EAting some crow there. Obviously home advantage but good performance to keep things rolling by Skinner. Maybe the kid is going place.
Interesting that they said the team really don't know why BRookes is off the pace and nothing is working. Maybe he's gone Rossi? Kent will probably end seeking other employment if this carries on and possibly Ryde too as he's very disappointing but I'm not sure that anything involving Rich Energy isn't just some money washing thing.

Actually Brookes has fallen victim to daft haircut syndrome. A grade 1 all over would return him to the podium.

Finally got to see the 2nd and 3rd races. No surprise that I'm going to rave about Rory Skinner. Sure he's fast but he's steady at the same time and happy to incrementally improve. Whitham pointed out that he's set his suspension up like a supersports bike which shouldn't work. Be interested to see how that works at Thruxton. Buchan was the fastest guy all weekend and deserved his wins, not bothered about forced passes either which is how to be at the front. Thought Hickman was very unlucky and fuck me, the Steve McQueen moment at turn one was butt clenching.

He seems like a very level headed and relaxed young rider.
It was interesting to hear during an interview that he was approached by some GP teams, but they all want him to bring 6 figure sums of money.... sign of the times! I would like see him in GPs than in BSB or WSB in the near future, but it all depends on the team, DORNA and BT; if the latter two are willing to stump up the cash, then I can see Skinner doing well... given his height, a Moto2 or satellite MotoGP birth was suit him.

He's having arm pump problems isn't he? Scheduled for the op straight after Knockhill so the next race will probably be a learning experience with sore arms.

Agreed. I think the 'passport' problem these days are the passport belonging to a country which isn't too bothered about bike racing and nobody is willing to put any money into it. If bike racing was popular then it would attract money.

The other day there was a report in the Spanish press about how the passport issue was out of control. The example being that Dixon is being considered for a MGP ride when there are plenty of other riders of other nationalities with better credentials for getting the ride, but not ticking the BT Sport / Dorna requirement box.
They've got a good point, we need talent AND promotion from the UK so that promissing young riders can get the cash needed to race at world level. How many of the UK riders on the grid now have reasonable sized UK sponsors on their bikes / leathers?
I think there's a feeling that the Spanish and Italian riders don't get asked to stump up cash to ride, but they do, and those that make it to the grid do so becasue national and local companies back the riders. Those that don't have to quit or don't get there, just like the British riders. Juanfran Guevara made a point of criticising the "pay to ride" structure when he quit, saying that the constant struggle to find sponsors was part of the stress that made him throw in the towel.

Must be so frustrating for BSB organisers and circuits that in the fresh open air they were limited to 4,000 through the gate. At 'test' events, they can have so many more people. F1 Friday practise at Silverstone and the grandstands in shot look fairly full. Its a 'test' event. Like Wimbledon tennis. The Euro footy semi & finals. Obviously, corruption hasn't come into it, its the UK* after all. How do you get your event to qualify for a 'test' event? You dont see 100's fans gate crashing the racing like Wembley footy final. Cant be organisational and policing skills.
*Fuck me that was close, nearly wrote England in the Knockhill thread.

Ridiculous when you see what went on at the euros

I couldnt remember the Knockhill numbers. Oulton was 4000. Silverstone today are letting in 80,000. There will be pinch points like the bogs, but people dont spend too long in there. The football, like Scotland v England, the pinch points were travelling by coach/train and as it was raining people being in the pubs indoors. People tend to travel to BSB/F1 by car/bike. At least Brands Hatch next weekend is unrestricted. The 'test' outdoor event last year was Bournemouth beach being packed in summer, we didnt have a rise in infection rates after that.

People at motorsport don't tend to throw beer all over and feel the need to hug each other. That's probably why you may not see a spike. Then again if Lewis Hamilton wins I will stick a flare up my arse for BLM.

WTF is going on with Brookes and that Ducati V4? How drastically has it changed for him to be so far behind his team mate? Going through the final chicane, he did not look aggressive in the slightest.

WTF is going on with Brookes and that Ducati V4? How drastically has it changed for him to be so far behind his team mate? Going through the final chicane, he did not look aggressive in the slightest. He didnt improve at the Thruxton round either Did you catch the interview with him after R3. He said he was feeding back to the team that he was losing the front here, no rear grip there, this that and the other and it was up to the team to find a solution. When asked what Bird had said to him he replied he hadn't talked to him about his form or how it was going. Shakey said after that as he had ridden for Bird and knew the approach he takes, he was surprised that Brookes was still in the team. He had spoken to the team (guess not Bird) and they had even gone as far as to give him a 2020 bike setup to ride at one point. Due to the crap showdown format, Brookes is only 30 points off a showdown place. Thats not much in the great scheme of things. 8th place Jackson is averaging 7.4 points a race. 39 podium credits off O'Halloran. That is. Even if Brookes wins the last 9 races thats 45 points difference to O'Halloran getting 9 2nd places. On his current form, I cant see anyone taking many wins off O'Halloran. If Brookes gets the push, who would they get to replace him? Ciao, Fredrico Caricasulo here, what, would I fancy a ride over the mountain? ELav?

I guess Bird's best chance of a BSB title is sticking to giving Iddon everything and not having anyone else who might come in and take points off Iddon.
