I think RD just wanted to get the race finished under a green flag and not safety car. It is shit having a race end, especially a title decider, because someone further down the field crashed. Usually rules have penalties attached to them. Is there a rule which states if RD fuck it up the race jury can decide at what point in a race a result is declared?

Hamilton had the race in the bag, 11s ahead before the SC….I’d feel a bit aggrieved in his position…fuck knows about the rules, I read them but it’s all Greek to me.

Good grief. Instead of an end of championship that could have reignited the sport for many, they go and self destruct. What an utter mess.

I'm not surprise the result stood, FIA unlikely to overturn the result and declare the race at 1 lap short of race distance. Mercedes' barrister on £1000 per hour 'Hold my beer'.

I'm not surprise the result stood, FIA unlikely to overturn the result and declare the race at 1 lap short of race distance. Mercedes' barrister on £1000 per hour 'Hold my beer'. Its an interesting concept. There seems little doubt that the race director lost the plot and applied rules incorrectly, but is there anything in their rule book that allows a fair remedy? We all know that SC periods close the field back up and we generally like that as spectators so that is not the issue. Here, the plonker ordered cars in between, because MV opted to pit and lose positioning, out of the way. Had the rules been followed, all cars would have been required to unlap themselves meaning no non yellow final lap. I think we see convenient X second time penalties so drop someone back, but here MV did nothing wrong. Maybe the problem, of their own making, is the absence of a fair solution. I suppose a re race would cover it, but is that viable?

All that money spent on 22 races (including the Spa 1 lapper in the wet) and it comes down to that. Re race should be 'A star in a reasonably priced car'.

Hamilton off the pace. Oh well, he's had a good run of it. I reckon either he'll come out next year or go full gender fluid. He's supposed to be an odd character according to some of the other drivers.
Seems Ferrari actually have pace again. Probably be the same F1 story with the races being boring and the title being more interesting.

F1 cars are now shite but the racing was ok. Watched the Indy afterwards also. They look weird now.

Indycars look shocking. They now resemble something Homer Simpson would design.
Tried to watch it but it was boring as fuck. Literally people going around in circles. I used to watch it a lot when Mansell went over as it seemed a decent mix of street and oval. Not sure if it still is.

Looks like maybe the new aero rules are working. That was a half decent race for F1. Also good to see 'god' Hamilton reduced a mere mortal without his winning car. He wouldn't be a 7 time world champion without that 2013-2021 car. Verstappen would have kicked his arse as a team mate.

Its easy to forget just how good Hamilton was when he joined F1, he produced some ballsy overtaking then, and far safer than Max could ever manage, as he's matured he knows he's good enough to play the long game and rack up those podiums and titles. I reckon that's why he kept ducking out of those dos with Verstappen hoping Max would do himself somewhere. Young Hamilton over young Verstappen all day long for me and it'll be a tall order for Mature Max to outdo Hamilton's legacy.

I think Hamilton always wanted to be Senna but Max is more that character as he seems to have the I do not give a shit about the consequences thing. Hamilton is more Prost.
I've watched Vertstappen sim race and he seems to literally drive the same in world with no consequences and a world with painful ones. He'll probably go full Marquez and fuck himself at some point. LeClerc could actually win the long game this year as long as Ferrari aren't up to any cheating.
