I've just realised that this thread is about the ZX-7R, not the ZXR750... DOH!
It's such a shame that Kawasaki didn't develop the 7R beyond its launch in '96, which is the same year that Suzuki launched the 750 SRAD... chalk and cheese!

From what I recall, they were heavy, massive by modern day standards and prone to rust. But there is a ton of knowledge out there to make them good for little money. There was a reason so many superbike privateers raced them. Low cost mainly though but you can still get parts for them now. I looked at getting one a few years back when I was trying to get my son into bikes. If you want cheap speed that isn't quite as old as a ZX-7R, look no further than the ZX-9R. But make sure it is the later model. Can't remember the model number off the top of my head but it is the one with the braced swingarm and detachable subframe. Around 2003 I think? They were always cheap and very underrated.
