In an interview clip they have just showed they were talking about his roll in the World Wildlife Fund, which he had helped set up and be president of.
Interviewer: Would you describe yourself as 'A Green'.

For sure he could say the wrong thing at times. Nobody is perfect.
I didnt realise he had been exiled by his own country, Greece, his parents splitting up, being sent away. Sure he had some privilege from being from a Greek and Danish royal family background, plus German & Russian ancestry, but I dont think he had an easy life early on.

Joined the Navy and fought for the UK. Put up (or maybe didnt) with some establishment and some of the UK press against him because of his background, plus a fair % of the UK population.
As a teenager living in rural Herefordshire, I had a lot of access to the outdoors, especially being in the scouts. It taught me a lot about skills and getting on with other people. He set up the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme giving 1000s of youngsters something to aim for, without having to join the scouts or other organisations. If 2 younger people turned up looking for a job and 1 had a DoE and the other hadn't done anything, I'd go for the DoE'er.
I feel especially sad for The Queen. Lost a lifetime partner.
Probably kept driving longer than he should have. I quite like him in a way, all things considered.

Here's the thing, I can't abide commercial radio and I listen to 6music for, well, music. To take over all channels for the announcement would be bad enough but blanket fucking coverage all day over all channels is massively over the top. Interviews with cunts outside the fucking palace, repeating comments from the same arseholes every 10 minutes. It's fucking ridiculous. |
