So Oulton is up next. Absolutely no idea who will be upfront. What a year we are having.

Hopefully not. I'd love to see the new talent finally come through on a regular basis and get rid of some of this old guard. If we look at the current top ten, We only really need to lose three or four of them to have a relatively young field. I can see Birdy going for two new riders next year and possibly we can lose O'Halloran if Skinner doesn't get a call from WSB/WSS. I like there to be at least one old guard to give a reference on talent but only if they are of a Mackenzie/Byrne level type rider. No one currently there fits that mould.
1. Glenn Irwin 157 2. Josh Brookes 122 3. Tommy Bridewell 122 4. Kyle Ryde 114 5. Jason O'Halloran 113 6. Christian Iddon 106 7. Tarran Mackenzie 101 8. Andrew Irwin 83 9. Lee Jackson 78 10. Bradley Ray 48

Is there any really shit hot UK talent? What produced the Haslam, Rea, Crutchlow, Camier, Davies, laverty period?

In my lifetime there has never been a period in British motorcycle racing where there was so much talent coming up at the same time. Camier, Crutchlow, Sykes, Rea and E Laverty came good at a very similar time. All competed against each other in BSS 2004 bar Laverty and again in 2005 bar Rea with Laverty now in the class also. All ended up in BSB by 2007 bar Laverty who went sideways to 250GP. Then they all went either WSS or WSB over the next few years. Pretty sure all of them were in WSB by 2010 alongside Haslam, Toseland and Byrne. Laverty came in 2011. Davies in 2012. Look at the results of those riders. 1. Crutchlow: MotoGP/WSB/BSB race winner. WSS/BSS champion. 2. Rea: WSB multiple champion, WSS race winner and BSB race winner.
3. Toseland: Two time WSB champion.
4. Byrne: WSB race winner and multiple BSB champion. 5. Sykes: WSB champion and WSB/BSB/BSS race winner. 6. Haslam: WSB race winner and BSB champion. 7. Davies: WSS champion and WSB race winner. 8. Laverty: WSB/WSS and BSS race winner. 9. Camier: BSB/BSS/125GP British champion.

Plus a few Suzuka 8 hour wins there. Not missed off the Lowes twins. They were a slightly later period.

Also Craig Jones was in the mix around that era too.

Yeah forgot about that tragedy. In his book Foggy reckons he would have made it as a wsb champ.

If I'm honest, I had Craig Jones a level below that crop. Maybe could have been a WSS race winner if everything went perfect but I didn't see him getting close to WSB race wins but who knows?

Imagine the odds you would have got on Glen Irwin. I reckon close to 100/1.

I love Oulton Park. I'm hoping for a succession of bun fights.

Race winner at Oulton? I'll go for Brookes. Highest points score over the 3 races? Glenn Irwin again.

I would also like to retrospectively kick Droog in the balls for posting about Oulton too early. Last weekend I told my wife I wanted to watch BSB after motogp only to be told it was the week after. I looked a right cunt I can tell you!
Actually I think this is THE pivotal round. If Irwin betters Brookes here I think it's over. The calendar gets no more nadgery or specialist after this round so if the Blade goes well at Oulton then expect more of the previous result at Donington. I'd like to see something unusual like Lee Jackson winning though.
