So recently I have been mooching through my old music collection (on CD) and have re-listened to a couple of old albums that I haven't heard in at least 10 years.
Chuffin' Nora, it's like putting on an old coat and finding a fiver in it.
This weekend I have listened to- 'Throwing Copper' by 'Live.'
What a brilliant album.
So I was wondering if you cats have recently caught up on an old bit of music that you haven't heard in ages and you'd forgotten how good it was?

A workmate gave me masses of music on a stick and one of the highlights for me was Throwing Copper. Superb. Another gem is This Magnificent Distance by Chris Robinson. Nothing like the Black Crowes but his voice is even better. Worth a listen. As for revisiting old favourites, Live Rust by Neil Young and Crazy Horse at the weekend. What a belter of a live album. Last week i revisited Nils Lofgren, live double album Night after Night. I was lucky enough to see him live before he joined the E Street band. Quite brilliant.

Recently replaced my amplifier and speakers and got my tone arm rewired so I have been ploughing through my old vinyl and fuck me, there is some amount of shite in there. There are some gems too though. Ziggy Stardust is an album I would rarely play because it is such a cliche but a recent spin turned into quite an emotional experience. It's a tremendous album and generated glorious memories of seeing him in 2004.
New vinyl is ridiculously expensive but its fragility gives music a value that has been lost to streaming.

Currently re playing Deep purple live in Europe, a 5 track LP from their last ever concerts before they split, you fool no one is a classic with Richie Blackmore doing his stuff.

i've been playing 'zz tops first album' on a loop for yonks now. completely forgot how good it is and a netflix documentary rekindled my interest in it.
it's nothing like eliminator, which most people know. it's really bluesy. if you only listen to one from it, have a go of 'squank'.

I've never been a massive ZZ Top fan but my mate is and a couple of years ago I went with him to see them. I had heard a few early tunes like La Grange and Cheap Sunglasses but fuck me, what a gig. Tremendous musicians. I'm very fussy about blues music but this was perfect. Dirty and grungey. Loved it.

I got turned on to the old zed zed by Bob Harris. Think it was 10 foot pole. Tres Hombres was the first album I bought but Nips made me play the 1st album earlier today. Shit hot indeed.

Eliminator and beyond was the slippery slope but you can’t blame them for going commercial. Playing the blues doesn’t pay the bills. To be fair it was MTV that made them minted with the car and the birds.

I just checked out 'Squank' and really surprised. I could hear it was ZZ Top, but it was completely different to anything that I expected. There were the odd times when it sounded a little bit CCR. I dug it.
A more modern dirty style are 'The Rival Sons,' you muso cats have probably already heard them, but good tracks are 'Electric Man,' 'Open my eyes,' 'keep on swinging' and 'pressure and time.'

Was finally getting to see the Oh Sees this year until Covid shat all over all live music. Then pished on it just to make sure.
I've somewhat optimistically bought a ticket for Doves next year. It will be fucking banging in the Barrowlands. Or even Pounding... 😉
Quite enjoying the sounds that Pottery are making. Obvious Talking Heads influence but they do it very well.
Porij are another band I've recently discovered. Shite name, great tunes.
