Bradley Wiggins Smith is now supposedly looking at CIV superbike for 2022. Obviously a man of high standards. Fish in barrel stuff for Smith now. He's in a tricky situation. By BSB standards he's still young but he risks the question of how good he ever was if he comes to BSB and gets mullered. Likewise with WSB. I find it odd that he managed to stay in (and get into) Motogp on the back on not much but now won't go anywhere where the talent level is supposedly lower but still a legitimate challenge. We're onto you Bradley Smith. Early doors it was perceived potential, MotoGP seat was down to BT(?)

Did you see the shit conditions they had to race in at Donington last time out. 10c track temperature and rained so hard they were delaying starts. What other ex MotoGP/500cc racers have come back to BSB? Old Man MacKenzie, cant think of any others. Not sure if I count Walker & Haslam for their smaller efforts in the top class. I think I would rather do CIV Superbike. 6 rounds at Mugello (2), Misano(2), Imola & Vallelunga.

Leon Haslam and Chris Walker. Neil Hodgson. Shane Byrne. James Ellison. Loads of the fuckers. Chris Burns. James Haydon. James Whitham.
Most of them potentially better than Bradley Wiggins as well.

I think only James Haydon had more than 1 year in the top class out of that lot. 24th & 21st. We missed Seam Emmett, similar results to Haydon. Best Brit returning to BSB was John Reynolds who did slightly better 14th & 15th. Smith finished 10th, 8th and 6th at Tech 3 before he bombed downwards. Smiths results were way better than any of the above, although he didnt have the disadvantage of proper privateer machines on 2nd or 3rd pick tyres.

I reckon Rob McElnea was a success story. Decent TT racer, 5 years in 500 gp's, a good few 4th places isn't shabby for the times. Did well in WSB and then came back to blighty and won the old British F1 series. Then became one of the most successful team managers. And all that with a massive weight handicap.
You wouldn't mess with the cunt either.

Parrish ended 5th in GPs one year then returned to British success, going back a while though!

So Sykes is now unofficially officially also retiring from WSB. Bet he goes Bird.

Niall MacKenzie saying Taz might have an opportunity to go to WSB depending on how things go with riders in that series. Would that be Toprac's ride if he goes to MotoGP? Or have Crescent have got lined up someone already in WSB and Taz would get that other ride? Intriguing. Would Crescent take Sykes, Davies or Laverty? Their current seats are taken I think. From what I can work out, if Toprac does go, then his would be the only remaining seat left, although could be wrong on that. Unless the WSB seat is one of the lesser teams.

I think laverty is past his sell by date though. He falls under second rider if he can find some money imo.

Why on earth did GoEleven not sign Baz? They must be crazy. I can't believe that it was Baz choosing the BMW over a Ducati, only a real idiot would do that....

The most unreliable source of rumours being the BSB FB forum (or is that the best source of unreliable rumours) people said that Taz has to find €200,000 if he wants the Go Eleven ride. There was also rumours about they ditching Ducati and getting Yamaha, but that has gone away. If the BMW team offered Baz money to ride that could be it. If they are expanding to 2 seats, maybe they have more budget for the racing and are getting upgraded bikes from BMW.

My post was a sly dig at Scott really, but good explanation Phil.

My post was a sly dig at Scott really, but good explanation Phil. That went right over my head. Sykes left a world championship winning team (his title) to BMW, one assumes for internal politics, and look how well that went. Are BMW really going to compete with Yamaha, Kawasaki and Ducati? The Ducati does seem to have a narrow operating window, from what riders and informed commentators are saying. I keep thinking back to what Stoner said to Dovi, play to its advantages and adapt to the weaknesses. It does sound like 'internal politics' again.
