I was out the other day and this pair of Repsol Honda boys with full replica leathers came past. Previously in maybe the 90s, I'd have thought it looked cool but I just thought it was embarrassing.
I guess it was the matching leathers that did it. I've always had a bit of your earn your stripes thing about certain stuff a bit like people who used to wear skateboard clothes but had never taken a slam down 10 steps or even ridden in their lives. This said give me a Rs250 and Chesterfield leathers and I'm Max.

Is there no way they might be part of the wider team?
I don't actually mind the FKW in this scenario though.

Interesting topic. You've lost all credibility when you've got matching gear, you really have, but we have this sports bike fixation in the UK. Probably less now than we used to but it's still there. I commute to work on a Repsol Fireblade. It's pretty much all I use it for. It's insanely fast, does over 100mph in first gear and is around 50bhp down on modern bikes. It's fucking mental. There's absolutely no need for it but our inherent British insecurity dictates that we buy stupid bikes. I blame the empire and our historical enslaving of the African people. I also blame Thatcher. Obvs.

I was always against matching stuff, preferring black leathers or at least just a plain design, but I confess that I saw a 2 piece GSXR leather suit for sale the other day and I thought that would be good for some track day action if the "new normality" continues to treat me well.
Probably wouldn't use it on the road though.

Obvs. I keep a sports bike because I keep kidding myself that I'm going to go back on the track. Frightening to think it has been 7 years since my last track day though. 95% of the kms on my GSXR are from commuting, but that has probably ended for the foreseeable future. My company has realised how much money it has saved by us not being there, so I doubt I'll be commuting again any time soon so I've started changing my bike from a commuter to a weekend toy. The other day I took the fairings off and washed the insides, painted the stator cover, painted the front mudguard, took of the baglux tank cover. Looks great now! As soon as my wife is ready to get on the bike again I'll buy something comfy and do some touring, but until then I'll keep my sad little middle-classed dream alive.

I want potentially any of the following
Husqvarna svart/vitpilen 401
Ktm rc390
Royal Enfield gt535 or classic
An 90s 125 2 stroke.
None of them are fast. The vfr would brutally whup them but as Clipper says most of journey is commute type stuff and id rather be so slow I'm cruising or having to work for my speed not just have a big v4 do all the work in one gear. I think Droog mentioned it before about having more fun working a slower bike.
Sadly the bike market is on its arse and used bike numbers are well down. EBay and Gumtree are flooded with dealers charging stupid money for 2019 pre reg stuff as well as 2020 stuff that's not shifted. Nobody seems to wanting to get rid of their current bike.

If I get my shit together with the 1000 or so things I really need to do, I might invest in an RC390. It is cheap fun.
