Would have loved to carry on being a cunt in various threads but disaster has struck.
My parents got ill and overdid the stiff upper lip routine and my step dad ended up with pneumonia after bravely not taking his antibiotics....
I'd been visiting and ringing them and since they were still driving I'd assumed they were getting better after visiting the docs. After getting a call about the front door lock going I went round to find he was really, really ill after deciding he didn't need medicine and my mum had gone loon. Rang their docs, got him seen and then admitted to hospital where he still is.
In the meantime my mother's mind has collapsed to the point she can't use a telephone or turn a light off. Rang her docs today as I've had another weekend of literally being unable to function. I'm now off work to sort this mess out but at least the doc will look at her on Thursday and apparently I need to ring social services as well.
Been going through some paperwork and it's a shamsters paradise, so far found a trail of 400k of money in various places and he's got one pension of 2k a month... Meanwhile the roof has been leaking in their bedroom and they've not had it fixed. Wtf. Madness. He's very mentally sharp but is prone to digging his heals in, like when he wouldnt let me reset the central heating after the timer went.
Anyway, I love to engage in more cuntery but making sure the kitchen doesn't blow up is more pressing. Happy new year to all fellow cunts!

The thing is medication, especially antibiotics, is that even though the symptoms may have cleared any underlying infection could still linger; finishing a course is essential. Hopefully this is a wake-up call with regards to your step dad's stubbornness, but it some people never change.
I hope that things settle down for the better as best as they can.

What I have discovered is that daytime TV is pure brainrot stuff. Not surprised people lose the plot absorbing this.

Been onto social sevices but it is all a bit 'Brazil' if you've ever seen the film. Lots of what do you want to do about it, well I can't say because you need to diagnose the problem.
Hopefully the doctor on Thursday will help. Meanwhile the silly sod in hospital has had to be put back on the drip because he's not been drinking his water.
Starting to think Logan's Run is a good idea...

Very sorry to hear that Meeks. Hopefully life gets a bit more normal for all concerned sooner rather than later. I can sympathize with your dilemma to a certain degree. I have to do all my parents paperwork now to prevent them being ripped off. Yet they still persist in doing things before checking with me so as not to bother me. Then it takes me forever to get them out of some dubious phone contract or similar. And I still live with my ex who is not in a good place meaning I'm stretched to the max mentally. Sending you some positive vibes not that either of us believe in Crystal Skulls

Got my mother to the docs yesterday and it seems she has meshed one story into another to come up with an excuse not to go to memory clinic in the first place. She was given a standard screening by a nurse who picked up things weren't quite right, nurse told doc, doc got her and her partner in to talk about going to memory clinic and apparently they both decided not to go.
My mum has turned this into some odd story about going for an asthma check and the nurse bullying her so she didn't go back again.
The most annoying part is my step father who is a sharp guy, who used to have a very high powered job, so no ill-organised dumbo but is clearly sticking his head in the sand as regards this and now this set of circumstances has blown up in his face. Then again he's still being an awkward cunt and is still in hospital and isn't drinking enough water etc. I spoke to some of their friends and they'd all been telling them to get to the docs but no they toughed it out until the end....
The mind is an odd thing. Oh well back to making breakfast and cleaning the house.

Sorry to hear this, Mekon. A lot of us are too bullheaded to see the doc when we should, I fit that bill nicely (as did my late wife...).

I just threw the towel in after 2 weeks of my mum not being able to operate a wall switch or turn on the TV. Problem is social services say they need consent to do an assessment. This part should be fun seeing as they are in total denial about stuff.
Step dad is Still in hospital and can't even lift a glass of water without being knackered out and really annoyed me yesterday as he seemed to think my mum doesn't need to go to the memory clinic when the cunt has already done enough damage by telling her not to go over 6 months ago.
Most of the old gadges in the ward seem to be on hunger strike and one said he give me £1000 to cut his throat. What a place!!

I'm with you in spirit mekon. My old man is really bad with dementia and old woman is a right cantankerous cow. The shit is gonna hit the fan when one of them snuffs it.

Well I managed to get 'consent' from my mother for a social services assessment but that could still be a month.
It's all very Vic Reeves big night out or something. There's probably some comedy in it all when you're searching for glasses but won't put any glasses on to find the other glasses and then accuse people of stealing your glasses and so and so on.
As I said to my brother today I'm happier to get annoyed rather than upset as I can still get shit done when annoyed. I'll get upset when more support is in place.
I knew I should have voted Corbyn. Proper fucked myself eh!
