No idea why I didn't post about it earlier as I was talking to someone about it when I was logged on here this morning. Never fancied Babs but I considered her a good person. Plus she was in an episode of Filthy, Rich and Catflap.

Blimey, can't believe its me updating this thread. What's going on, people having nostalgic tugs or something? RIP the owner of the most looked at jugs for a couple of decades, bubbly Babs Windsor. Her obituary on the BBC website was little more than a list of all the gangsters she shagged (both Krays including the gay one) and Sid James. It unnecessarily included that she'd had 3 abortions by the time she was 21. We get it BBC, she was a mad shagger. She probably deserved better than that. Sounds like she possessed some kind of a magic fanny and liked the bobby in her youth. She certainly hung out with dubious company back then Actingwise, well it's a stretch to say she was talented. With the exception of Carry on up the Kyber (she wasn't in it) the Carry On films were dire. Eastenders is a programme i sometimes catch the end of if i've recorded something that follows and it always seems to end with something like "Shut your bleedin maaath you caow and get out of my bleedin pub. Bleedin slag" etc etc Maybe she was a nice woman and it's a shame she's died but spare me all the acting plaudits please.

I've only just seen that Peter Williams passed away on 20 December. A truly great rider and engineer. I'll never forget his feats with the John Player Norton with the monocoque frame that allowed him to finish ahead of much more powerful machines. RIPPeter and thanks for the memories.

Peter Williams was a rare breed who was both a brilliant engineer and superb racer. He punched above his weight with the 500 Arter Matchless which was the first ever to use magnesium alloy wheels (his idea) and later with the Commando regularly beating TZ 750 and Suzuki/ Kawa 2 strokes with maybe 40 more horses. Amazing talent. RIP Mr Williams

Old school manager in the Busby, Shankly, Stein, Fergie mould. No nonsense disciplinarian with an eye for young talent and achieved way more than his resources should have. Beating Barcelona home and away should have been impossible. My late father in law coached Paul Hegarty at schools level and kept in touch throughout his career. He said McLean was a genius at getting players to perform at higher levels than expected and was tactically up there with the best.

I saw that too mate. He had a great innings and left one hell of a legacy that anyone would be rightfully proud of. It's just a shame that covid had a cruel involvement in his passing away. I'm pretty sure that if you would have offered his life to a young Tom as he was deploying out to the Far East during the war, he would have snapped your hand off.

Ignoring the COVID, when I heard he'd be admitted with pneumonia I thought it was a bad sign. Not just a great innings, but service, biking and astonishing decency in his final year. Once in a while 'the good die young' lets one slip through. He really deserves to RIP.
