This won't apply to motorcycles, which is some comfort.

I think this was inevitable but did not expect it this soon. It will go wider than the EU.

Got away with it. Twice.
Road to work like an utter cunt this morning though as some guy in a hot golf was hassling me and i wanted him off my arse. It was pretty quick actually but jeans and textile jacket with Top box isn't the gear for racing in.

It all seems a bit pointless when you can actually switch it off everytime you start the car. If you drive like a cunt then you will still be able to drive like a cunt.

Insurance companies will be able to tap into the data and offer lower premiums for careful drivers. I think some already offer this with a device of some sorts. From the BBC article: So it'll still be a free-for-all for speeding motorists then? Not quite. Under the new rules, cars will also be fitted with compulsory data recorders, or "black boxes".
So if you have an accident, the police and your insurance company will know whether you've been going too fast. If you've been keeping your foot down and routinely ignoring the car's warnings, they may take a very dim view of your actions.

So basically no point teararsing because the car will fucking grass you up anyway if you fuck up!
I can only afford a car from 2012 anyway so I'll be getting near 60 by the time I can afford a 2022 car.
I actually reckon most people don't even want to drive and wouldn't miss it.

Not too fussed about this as I cant see it impacting me in the real world. Hopefully I'll be old enough to no longer be bothered when it kicks in for real.
What should be mandatory is that drivers mobiles go into no signal mode when the car is moving. The amount of people driving around looking in their laps is truly shocking. I was watching a teenager tailgating me just the other day clearly tapping away on her phone. After she'd nearly run into the back of me when i had to brake she went straight back to whatever she was looking at. This took place on the motorway.

Not bothered about this. Where I live the roads are all smart roads and it's rare you can go over 50 anyway. Bound to be a box of trickery that will override this on sale on eBay via good old China for £7.99 delivered;)

When I say car, its an ex-British Gas van and its limited to 70mph. That may sound a bit wank being limited to 70mph, but with my old larger van the speed limit on the open single carriageway road was 50mph. Now in my small van I can tear arse around at 60mph.

Did you know that the law has changed regarding the maximum legal speed for all van derived vehicles, i.e. light commercial vehicle (LCV), being driven on all non-motorway dual carriageways is now 60mph? This includes Ford Transit Connect, Citroen Berlingo, VW Caddy, Ford Transit Custom, VW Transporter, Vauxhall Vivaro etc.
One of our technical sales support drivers got nicked doing 71mph on the A14 last year!

Does my head in and is the biggest distraction. Need to introduce huge penalties to stop this unless technology can be found. I heard that they are developing technology to stop tailgating by applying brakes when too close. That gets my vote.
