So its no surprise that Brits dont work in Europe, as we are shit at languages. An exception is The Netherlands, it seems you can still make a career over there and not speaking the lingo *looking at Beefus here*. I bet the 1.2m living in the EU arent all fluent in the local lingo. I work for an international organisation where the three official languages are English, French and German but, certainly in I.T, English is the spoken language. I know plenty of UK expats who do speak Dutch, I’m just lazy, but really most Dutch speak English anyway, especially when you try to speak Dutch to them, they’ll reply in English!!…but, hindsight, more effort should have been made. |

If the EU member states do decide to go full Euro, will it be just 1 athlete from all 27 member states to represent the EU. Full Euro state of the current 27 countries will never happen. Slovenia were the 1st country to break away from Yugoslavia, they wanted to stand alone. Too many career politicians I'd say. |

It's actualy a very scary point with regards to the history of Europe! The main thing that pissed me off about the EU is the way that Germany was allowed to devalue the Dautchmark by way of the creation of the Euro currency, knowing fine well that the less well off countries with regards to GDP were driven into financial despair.
If the UK had joined the Euro and devalued the pound in the same way, we probably would have over taken Germany in financial status.
France and Germany are canabalising the other less well off members to become the dominant force, and it will one day come to a head.

I did go off on a tangent there, but you can understand why many are worried the way they are headed! Germany failed twice at dominating the Continent and France also failed! Are they after another go? It certainly seems that way.

The problem is a lot of the eastern euro nations will be a lot harder to infect with the 'diversity' virus. The kickback is already starting. By and large these nations will not be tolerent of rainbow dildo butt monkeys and the like and more like muslims with their views on religion etc.

I've found that happens a lot, everywhere. You learn a bit of the language, but they clock you are English and want to practise their English and think they are helping. Particularly if you sound like the policeman off Allo Allo. I dont mind. I've also experienced the opposite. A hotel receptionist understood my French, thought we will do the rest of this in French and I understood 20% of it. It was only where the room is, time of breakfast, and fuck knows what else she was on about. I think its important to have a go though, and not just open up with hello do you speak English. |

The EU council (heads of state) requires a qualified majority to pass laws. 55% of the countries to vote in favour of something for it to be passed, plus those countries must have 65% or the EU's population. The EU Parliament requires a simple majority in most cases. Merkel or Macron cant just rock up and do it on their own, or combined together. But with our loss of influence, some of the smaller countries who have the same views as the UK are missing us. Those nasty Krauts and the world wars 1 & 2. The UK ruled a lot of the world at one stage. Are we the good guys? History doesn't just cover 1914 - 1918 & 1939 - 1945. The UK really fucked over Iraq and look how thats ended up with Isis gaining control of parts of the area. Seems like this discussion is heading around in circles so I'm ducking out. I'm agreeing to disagreeing. |
