Gino seems to do things his own way, as a fan its frustrating because from the armchair it aways seems to harm his career.

From the armchair, he's been less than stellar for a while now.

Agreed regarding Ellison. He will struggle to be top ten and would have been better off going MotoAmerica where he could have comfortably been top five every week.

Must of posted about the same time as Phil, I was on about Rea. He's a bit of a Billy McConnel for my money, except with no ability to get really good rides. Sort of rider that is perhaps flattered by the less powerful classes but you can't take the rag-arse style onto 1000cc full factory bikes.
As for Ellison, I feel he sort of did a Pedrosa and checked out early on in the season but I'm not sure a season of being at the back is going to be redeemed next year and Hickman will probably get the better of him. Then again he also can put one over on the field if everything is falling right for him. He's not had a bad career results-wise but he's had some whopping accidents and never actually seems to have small ones regardless of whose fault it was.

How f**n amazing does the Ducati sound coming out of corners Indeedy. I like a happy Scot Redding too. He's gonna enjoy BSB.

My VFR is going to sound like that when I debaffle it!
Good to see Redding happy. Once he's found his feet in BSB he will win. Given most of the showdown is on international tracks he's got a big chance of the title, never mind all the stupid 'he'll get a shock when he rides (insert shit circuit, most of which aren't even in the calendar now).

I can only see him struggling with Cadwell and Knockhill myself. I'd back him to win but I don't want to jinx the poor bastard. Hopefully he wins BSB in 2019 and gets moved straight to WSB.

Has he ever raced in the UK apart from Donington & Silverstone? If he gets a decent Friday to learn the circuits in the dry he will do ok. A wet Friday and dry race day will be one hell of a task especially on a brand new bike.
Will he win the title from the lowest number of points going into the showdown? I'll have a look later to see who won the title from the lowest pre-showdown position.

You can get into the showdown from scrapping the bottom of the barrel really. I remember this Iddon was in with a chance of it and he'd done fuck all really. Once you get past the big hitters the rest are scoring pretty low to get in. Can't imagine Redding being in with the Iddons.

In 2012 Byrne won the title by 28 points. Pre showdown he was in 3rd place having scored 81 points less than Hill. Podium credits cut that lead to 11.
Last year Hickman got into the showdown on 134 points, Haslam was leading with 400, but 64 podium credit points ahead.
