So I'm sitting on my bike in the office car park waiting for my turn to exit, barrier gets stuck and won't go up so van in front of me decides to reverse (to then go to the other barrier) without checking his rear-view (obvs!) and smacks into me. It was one of those slow-motion moments where you don't actually believe what is about to happen! :-(
I think I got a bit "lucky" though, his rear bumper hit the bike mostly on the top of the mudguard and slid under the front fairing headlight unit...The damage visible is cracked mudguard, bent mudguard supports (which are part of the lower forks/brake assembly on the wheel hub and both indicator lenses cracked. So I thought, new mudguard, lenses..not too bad...but they will have to replace both fork tubes (the internals) as they are fixed to the lower hub/brake assembly...1400 Euros in parts apparently. Insurance assessor at dealer this week to check over what needs to be done so should get some news by the end of the week.
I was able to ride it home then to the dealer and it feels OK, I think its straight but they'll give it a full going over....
Happy days!

I hope you apologised. As a biker, it was your fault after all.
I wonder how much would be saved with compulsory reversing radar alarms. I had a courtesy a while back, a tiny little thing yet that a camera and screen to help you park. That should be on vans really.

Thats a bit of bad luck, hopefully you can get it sorted out ASAP and not miss out on any summer riding. The cost of replacement parts soon adds up these days.

Nice Guy Eddie...of course it was my fault!! ;-)
Bike all fixed now, there wasn't anymore unseen damage and the front wheel and forks are ok. Still needed the fork inner "tubes" replaced though, along with a new mudguard.
THat'll be 1300euros please Mr Insurance Company!.
