I'm not calling you old Diego the toe clipper but we don't bounce like we used to. When I fell heavily onto my shoulder a few years ago, it took me about a year to stop 'feeling it'. My shoulder itself was fine but I had sternum pain, back pain and under arm rib pain.

It truly is shit getting old. Took over 2 weeks to get rid of my chest/rib strain from dragging my immobile mother out of the back of my Mini. It's shit that I'm actually pulling muscles doing stuff like that anyway! 15 years ago I could have dragged her out and squatted her 20 times and then thrown her over the fence.

You're right.
But I am still really glad that instead of making me want to stay at home watching shite on the TV, I am now just more determined to get back out there. Mentally at least I am still, well, mental?
The GSXR only needs tyres and a service, and over the winter I got my hands on a trailer so I can go to some tracks other than Jarama!
And yesterday I bought an immaculate 140mm travel double suspension mountain bike with drop post for not much cash. Going to do a few upgrades as its a few years old, then back to the mountains to avoid high speed trees!

Sound painful, but keep at it!
As for the finger, keep it moving as much as possible within pain limits. Get a silicone soft ball and keep squeezing it. I dislocated (90 degees) and broke my little finger. orthopedic surgeon just velco'd it to the adjacent finger and said keep it moving. Its straight and works fully.
As for the mental side, I have had my doubts the last half year, some pain and finding doing tricks snowboarding, skateboading etc a bit harder. Was talking to Daniel Frank (Silver medal, first time snowboarding in the games) He said you have to work harder and not back down. If you are still doing it, go harder or you will get hurt as you are not committed. Work more out and invest in every session. It has helped. My moves are coming back and having more fun on the hill.
Even went to Tenerife 2 weeks ago and skated the hills with guys half my age.

Thanks 66.
I'm 95% fit now (roughly), I can almost bend the finger as normal, still feels a bit odd but no real pain. My leg muscle is a bit tight still and if I press on it I can notice a bit of discomfort, but it doesn't stop me pedalling. I've started to try out the capabilities of the new bike last week, did a few small jumps and drops, one which I had never dared do with the rigid frame Trek, so I'm definitely not holding back. I need to go back to the mount where I crashed to do the same run, but I think I need just a few more weeks for that. Our local downhill park opens in a month's time, so I really should be 100% fit by then. Can't wait. Booked my first track day for 15th May at Jarama, and serviced the GSXR today. Can't wait! A stupid tree jumping out at me isn't gonna stop me trying to enjoy myself!

It's right what they say about getting back at it asap.
I remember stacking my car in 99. Proper closed the roads, cut the car to bits job. I was black and blue and had massive bruising across my chest and into the hip from the seat belt, also had a black eye from head on steering wheel contact. Annoyingly we had the TT booked for the week after and instead of reflecting on my dangerous cunt behaviour and giving it a miss I was determined to go. Oddly enough I was comfortable on the bike but everything else hurt like fuck! I guess I knew I would get banned for the accident so best to get as much biking in as possible before the judge told me I was a proper cunt.
