Anyone had a Caberg lid? Some good offers around for these (Italian company, but made in China I suppose)

Anyone had a Caberg lid? Some good offers around for these (Italian company, but made in China I suppose) I have one, it looks and fits nice and is comfortable although a little noisy. I fitted a pinlock to the visor and it was perfect throughout winter and wet days with no misting at all. I would have no hesitation in buying another Caberg.

I've got a Shoei head and no matter what else I've tried it all comes back to comfort & fit. Over the last 20 years all my helmets have come from either the NEC or Ally Pally. Good end of season bargains to be had, also Ally Pally frequently gave discount for racing licence holders. Plus you can try it on first, important if you ars switching brands and you can make sure it wasn't ex-demo stock that was sitting there exposed to UV light. Riding gear came the same way too.

I know what you mean. I am so worried that I will hate anything other than an Arai after so long with only their lids. The other day I worked out that it is 20 years since I wore any other lid. I always had my reservations about ex demo lids, but my last one was ex demo and really it has been fine until the side pod broke (possibly due to the plastic being in the light for so long??) But I have just found a heavily discounted Arai in my size which is not an ex-display so I have gone for my 5th Arai in a row..... Thanks for the opinions!!!

First, 5 years? El fuck sake! Not sure a cheaper lid would last this long. El Noodle always buy Arai but get last year's model at discounted price. Also, top racing models (RX7, etc) usually too noisy for road use. Arai Chaser perfectly fine. Can replace pods too.

Also, top racing models (RX7, etc) usually too noisy for road use. Arai Chaser perfectly fine. Can replace pods too. I think I was affected by the fact that my previous Arai lasted nearly 10 years! I only retired it when the lining started to disintegrate leaving bits in my hair when I took it off... probably that was too long! To be fair, my current Arai (the new one is a Xmas pressi so I have to wait) is only being retired because Arai have discontinued the side pods and I'm too OCD to put ones that don't match the colour scheme.... Talking of durability, yesterday I bought some new Alipnestars boots and threw my old ones away. The old ones were the ones I bought at the British GP at Donington in 2000, and have been my only boots for 17 years! Now that is value for money!

As mentioned by noodle, I have an Arai Chaser and its fine. Roughly half the cost of the top line Arai ones. The only significant difference I can tell is the weight, its quite abit heavier when you pick them up side by side in the shop. Worth a look if you want to stick to the same brand.

Spuu, I have already bought a Quantum (one of the last ones, not an original Quantum!). Manufacture date is 2013, but it was not a shop dispaly model and has been in Arai UK storage in its original box since the lauch presentation, the box was a bit battered but the helmet has clearly never been put on, has all the tags on it and everything.
Very cheap.

At least those posts are sort of related to helmets!
