Suzuki gone full gaylord and are apparently dropping the v twin 650s for parallel 700. Fuck me, those sound like absolute turd imo. Biking gets gayer by the day. Going to keep my gsxr600 to remember the days when bikes were an arms race.
No doubt this is emissions based.

Dropping the 650cc V-twin would have been an emissions as well as an economic issue, but redesigning it as a 700cc parallel twin would be purely economic as they are less complex. If they use a cross plane crank, then at least it'll sound like a v-twin.

It if lead to race series with stuff like the R7 and RS660 I'd be for it but it seems they are staying naked with the idea. Suzuki just seem to be cruise mode today. Apart from the electronic aids all the more expensive bikes have all we have seen is less power and the same old bikes.

It's only club racing and road racing (IoM TT, NW200 etc) that use these bikes; Supertwins and Lightweight TT respectively. The fact that Suzuki haven't replaced the GSX-R750 speak volumes IMO! They dragged their feet with the Hayabusa replacement and are dropping the GSX-R1000/R. With a rules tweek, the 750 could race in the WSS class... it would be like the old days of 750/4s vs 1000/2s.

WSS700 would be a great class to run in the WSB programme. About 100hp so a decent stepping stone from WSS300

Triumph should be making 250cc singles in the UK as then we can buy British and it will be all we can afford.

Did anyone see the Dyno test of the Aprilia 660 thing? Almost 90 bhp at the rear wheel. That's about the same as a K1 - K3 GSXR 600.
Yeah, the sound, the drive is different from an inline 4, but its not bad development if that's where parallels are these days.
I think the replacing of the GSXR 750 is a moot point because it was only really discontinued in Europe. What was Suzuki supposed to do, develop a replacement just for Europe while the rest of the world still wanted and could buy the GSXR?

My mate was supposed to be arranging a test ride on a rs660 but it looks like it will never happen this year. Would have been interesting to compared it to both the sv and the gsxr. It's makes its power towards the top end so the bottom to mid may not be much different to the Sv.

I know where you're coming from though. I'd love a "last model" GSXR750 as my last sports bike before I get too old and fucked. In fact its between a late GSXR and a Daytona 675R, probably depending on which come down in price quicker to justify track thrashing without fear of crash induced bancruptcy.

Unfortunately the last GSX-R750 that I can squeeze myself onto in relative comfort is my K5. From 2006, the 750 were based around the 600 and these are just too small for my 6' 2" frame! My next GSX-R will have to be a pre-2017 1000. The Daytona 675 isn't even on my radar!

Not really interested in road bikes any more but a quick look through the offerings of the major manufacturers and none of them make any good bikes now. Barring the Superbike 1000's it's all shit.

Too true Droog. When I got back into biking there really wasn't much that took my eye from the last few years. Maybe the reason I got the rc390 was that it looked really different.
Everything now is naked detuned 1000s with short tail units or tourers. Ironically I think the Enfields stand out as they look different.
Tbh if you're not going to thrash the fuck out of stuff I don't get the point of having a 170hp tourer and doing 70. Anyone not riding fast should be limited to 70hp.
