So to make up for the last 2 years we are doing 2 trips this year. NC500 in June, anti-clockwise this time, and taking in Borders, Kielder, Dales, Peak District on the way back down. Borders aside, I've never ridden those parts of England so looking forward to it.
Then in August, heading to the castrated Red Bull Ring...Leave The Hague Thursday and arrive Saturday, race Sunday then Monday to Friday coming back to NL, with Grossglockner thrown in. Can't wait!.

Motherfucker. I'll be lucky to get to shops in 2022. Just be taking the odd roaming day off like up to Tan Hill or Devils bridge.

I'm not planning any road riding this year either. Went out yesterday for a morning ride round some twisties, but it wasn't much fun TBH.
First track day isn't until 16th May so a long wait still. Not sure how many I'll get in this year either.
But we went to the north of Spain last week for a holiday and my wife was getting quite enthusiatic about some touring in the future, she was even looking at bikes that were parked up to see which one she thought would be best for pillion comfort. She hasn't been on a bike since before our first boy was born, he's 14 now, but it's clear she wants to get back into it.

Tell her to get her own fucking bike Well if you tell her that she can do it with her half of the divorce settlement. Maybe phrase it differently.

Last stop on our trip will be Tan Hill Inn....we're riding down from the Borders (Moffat) so will be taking the scenic route of course...any tips for the best roads in the Pennines/Dales?

Tbh the condition of North Yorkshire roads is quite shocking. They are shit. There's loads of routes that are great on paper but the surfaces are terrible.
Last time we went to Cadwell it was amazing that the Lincolnshire roads were miles better. I think the problem is the county sees a lot of traffic. You won't find many quiet rides and if you do find a quiet road it's usually like riding in Syria after a carpet bombing.
When I was into proper teararsing we'd be out at 6 in the morning to get a ride to devil's bridge in before all the old cunts got out.
I guess there is the benefit of no fixed speed cameras in the county but they do the mobile thing but keep it sensible in the 30s and down long straights and you'll be ok. They are generally where you expect them to be.

Had a proper rag around the Yorkshire Dales at the weekend. Surprisingly quiet, even when I stopped a biker pub there was hardly anyone there. Didn't go mental as it's been a long time since I've taken some of the roads I went on and there's a lot of blind corner of a brow type stuff. Lot of sheep in the road type hazards as well.

So our NC500 trip took a tragic turn last Tuesday, one of my mates was involved in a horrible accident. We’d just left Castletown on the A836 to Thurso having refuelled there, I was up front, May mate Rich behind followed by my mate Adrian…some cunt pulled across the road to turn right at the last minute giving Ade no chance, he’d probably have been doing around 60mph but there was no warning or time to stop according to witnesses. The bike exploded on impact and he hit the passenger wing, window and went over the top of the car. He is currently in an induced coma in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with severe internal injuries (turn aorta, lung damage, liver damage, broken left arm, broken ribs, dissected stomach, and he had to have his right leg amputated above the knee. Needless to say it’s been a sombre ride home (via Aberdeen infirmary). We saw him in ICU….fuckin awful. On a slightly positive note, a coach that was behind the offending driver had a dashcam, so this is with the police. What a nightmare…

Fuck. That's utterly shit. Just shit. Sombre stuff indeed. Sorry for everyone involved in that and all anyone can do is hope for the best possible outcome out of this.

Oh shit, that's terrible. I hope he can at least recover to lead a reasonably normal life.

Life changing injuries at any age are just unthinkable. Hope your mate makes as full a recovery as possible and thank fuck for dashcam footage as this should eliminate a lot of hassle in his pursuit of decent compensation. Sounds like he's going to need it.
The standard of driving in the Highlands has been quite poor recently and unfortunately I include my own in that assessment. The biggest issue I've seen is cunts dawdling at 35-40mph in a 60 zone with a queue of frustrated cunts behind them and few opportunities to overtake. When you're driving an underpowered 4x4, overtaking is risky at the best of times but when your decision making is affected by frustration then you can easily find yourself in a dangerous situation of your own making.
Another common scenario is when you're maybe the second or third vehicle behind the slow cunt. It looks increasingly like the cunt in front of you is happy to stay behind the slow cunt so you pull out to overtake both of them. The cunt in front of you then decides to overtake without checking their mirror just as you're now fully committed to overtaking them forcing you into an evasive manoeuvre.
Loads of bikes up there just now and poor overtaking decisions can have terrible consequences.

Driving standards seem pretty bad at the moment. Just generally. I was even going to submit one to the police myself from the dashcam but I didn't set the date right. Came around a bend to find a woman on completely the wrong side of the road overtaking cyclists. All she had to do is what literally 5s. It was a close run affair and hard on the brakes. The cyclists were doing the old 2 a breast on purpose so that didn't help matters.
This said I remember a few years back I pulled out of a junction and this car just appeared out of nowhere. Obviously it was there but for some reason my brain didn't compute and I got an earful of horn. Shocking to think this sort of thing can happen to you and also you can potentially do it to someone else. I honestly did not see them.

Thing is, it wasn’t busy up there…we’d ridden up the east coast and it was deserted….surprisingly…but it only takes one idiot. Coming back down to Ullapool wasn’t that busy either aside from slow cars on the single lane roads south of Durness. I was expecting it to be rammed with camper vans.
My mate is getting his shattered pelvis put back together tomorrow, 12hour operation, and they will also need to assess if there are any more internal issues. They removed the bolt from his head that was monitoring cranial pressure so that’s something positive, but everything is still very much up in the air.
