Yes, Nicky was good on it, but no wins. How long did Ducati go without a win after Stoner left? My memory is fading.

well, your point was nobody else could even ride it. i'm not sure how many races a 'second' rider is expected to win but given his form that year, maybe hayden could have been victorious the year casey left...if they hadn't ploughed millions into making a yama-cati.
as for actual wins post stoner. ianonne in austria maybe?

I'lL admidt that "no one could ride it" is a bit harsh, but still stand by that it was only Stoner who could ride it over the limit. From what I understand from back then a lot of riders said they had very little feeling. Kallio, Melandi etc.
Don't think the frame swap happend until VRs second year? The first part of the season was still the bike VR was going WTF!

i thought there were a few versions of the carbon chassis in his first year. they were doing an 11.1 and 11.2 kind of thing. didn't they essentially write off 2011 and use it as a test for the chassis that would house the new 1000's in 2012. i'm not sure entirely.
anyway...viñales to terminate his yamaha contract and ride the aprilia next year?

Vinales will be right as dodgers tomorrow. Just needs to sort his gulliver out.

Looks like he has terminated that contract.

Genuinely surprised by that! As is Dovi I expect.
Maverick has made some odd choices in his career, leaving Suzuki was one of them and I wonder if he sees this as "undoing" that mistake?
It also makes me wonder if we are going to see another two Aprilia's on the grid next year in a private team. Would they increase the grid slots?

Seems like he can't handle the heat of El Diablo.

Vinales had the fastest lap of a Yamaha rider at the Sachsenring. He was 3rd after FP2. The crash in FP3 and then poor Q1 caused him to lose his mojo. Meregalli said a minor tweak to the bike and he was pole at Assen. Vinales is harder to tune than the bike Is it all posturing by MV, trying to get more attention from the team? Will Aprilia want someone so inconsistent on their bike. I suspect Aleix gives it 100% whatever the bike is doing under him.

So Vinales' ex manager tweets its 95% certain than Vinales will be going to Aprilia. The rumour mill fires off big time. The last 5% of any deal is the hardest. Will Aprilia pay what MV wants. Can Vinales just tear up his contract without paying a penalty clause if there is one? If Yamaha want R Fernandez thats €1/2m buy out clause. Get MV to pay that to leave.

They've just interviewed someone from Aprilia and all he would say was that if Viñales is freed from his Yamaha contract, they would talk to him. So DAZN asked if Apria would pay any penalty to terminate the Yamaha contract and the answer was oh no, nno, we're not doing that!

Its official, Viñales is out of Yamaha in 2022.
Rumour mill at full chat now in the Spanish press!
Morbidelli to replace Mack? Dovi has suddenly announced openly that he hasn't signed anything with Aprilia, but he'd love to try a Yamaha!
Other contenders listed for potential Yamaha greatness after this weekends paddock chats are:
Dixon (yes still, really this has to be a Dorna BT Sport thing...) Roberts (makes a bit more sense) Vierge (Dixon with a more lucrative passport) Toprak (he'd have to ditch Kenan as his manager I guess)
No mention today of Raul F. who seems to want to stay in Moto2 for another year (possibly to see how the KTM evolves?)

Dovi can fuck off. He's made of the same stuff as Vinales. I watched the Undaunted thing and even though Ducati were cunts to him there was too much self doubt and 'I could have done better' after the races from him as well. Don't think you'd see a different Dovi on a Yamaha.
Moridelli would be right move and Fernandez to Petronas.

Toprak would make a great No. 2 rider at SRT, similar to when Cal moved across to GPs, but I wouldn't put him in the official squad.
