I suppose you can't blame him really, he's securing his family's future...Its a shame nothing came about after he rode the RCV 6 years ago because he did a good job. I think, on the right machinery, he could certainly emulate Crutchlow's results....and probably crash less too ;-) +1. Unfortunately maybe there wasn't the openings at the right time for him.

I think that I've said this before, but IMO Rea is, at the very least, as good as Crutchlow. I see the former as having the same talent as Ben Spies, JR just came into WSB on the wrong bike. That 7th and 8th as a stand in showed what he could have done if the timing had been right for him; plus JR was told to just bring the bike home. Those results, along with the ones he managed on the aging Fireblade in WSB, should have earned him a crack on a satellite RCV. His smooth style would've translated well onto an M1... ... well, that's my twopence worth. Which satellite Hondas were available in 2013? 2011 Moto2 champ Bradl was rookie of the year on one in 2012, finishing 8th overall. So he continued in 2013. Bautista was on the other, he finished 5th overall in 2012, 6th in 2013. How was he supposed to get a ride on an M1? JT got into MotoGP on an M1 with Tech-3 after he had won the WSB title on a Honda, but when Rea was looking the Tech-3 seats were filled and then later on he was too old. Was his best chance for a Tech-3 ride in 2014, but they signed Moto2 champ PE. Fuck me Phil, I haven't looked into the details of who was where, how they got there and what seats were available etc I'm just saying that he is/was good enough to be a part of that paddock and I feel that given the right equipment, at the right time a place would've been justified. The timing was all wrong, the other manufactures caught up and suprassed Honda in WSB after JT won his title for Ten Kate, JR stayed too long with them etc.

Bradley Smith got into MotoGp on the back of 7th and 9th overall in Moto2 with NO wins and 3 podiums in 2011 and NO!!!!! podiums in 2012. W T F. Let that sink in. A rider was promoted to MotoGP after getting on the podium ZERO times the year before.
And yet Rea's management cannot find him a slot. Guess he needed Smith's management.

Smith's career path was CEV, Moto3/125, Moto2 with Tech-3 whom he got to ride MotoGP with. How many MotoGP champions have there been via any other path?

Nicky Hayden took a different GP path and still made it. Only one person is champ each year but that shouldn't stop people wanting to get to GP to try their hand.
Money before kudos with Rea. I bet Davies would take a GP ride even if it was shit.

Mekon you're talking crap.
Rea will be 32 at the start of next season. Even if somehow he ended up on the best bike in MotoGP what's the best he could realistically hope for? The odd top 5 and maybe top 6 in the championship through consistency? Also he's a family man and I'm sure the 12 wsbk rounds, mainly in Europe and in a family friendly paddock are a lot more attractive to him than the 19 MotoGP rounds.
For Bradley Smith, Sam Lowes and Michael Laverty the ride in MotoGP was very likely their best offer, Rea has a job for life at Kawasaki wsbk and with his win bonuses I bet he's on more money than all but a handful of riders in the MotoGP paddock.
And we all know that Bradley Smith only got a MotoGP ride because Ninja threatened to kneecap Poncharal if he didn't give him a ride.
